San Andreas, CA...On Friday, December 18, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed 45 additional cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. To date, Calaveras Public Health reports a total of 722 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, 584 cases have since recovered while 116 cases remain active. There have been a total of 22 confirmed deaths related to COVID-19 reported in Calaveras County.

Washington, DC...Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the second vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The emergency use authorization allows the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to be distributed in the U.S. for use in individuals 18 years of age and older.

Jobless Numbers Trend Upwards as 885,000 Initial Jobless Claims Filed Last Week. 48,341 in California Alone

Washington, DC...In the week ending December 12, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 885,000, an increase of 23,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 9,000 from 853,000 to 862,000. The 4-week moving average was 812,500, an increase of 34,250 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 2,250 from 776,000 to 778,250. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 3.8 percent for the week ending December 5, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending December 5 was 5,508,000, a decrease of 273,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up 24,000 from 5,757,000 to 5,781,000. The 4-week moving average was 5,726,250, a decrease of 215,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 6,000 from 5,935,750 to 5,941,750.

San Andreas, CA... The 2019 — 2020 Calaveras County Grand Jury has just released a report entitled "Assessor's Office". The Summary section of the report states why the grand jury undertook the investigation and notes the report's most significant issues, findings, and recommendations, as follows: "Numerous citizens have expressed concern regarding the Calaveras County Assessor's Office being significantly behind in property reassessments. The backlog results in delayed property reassessments, which in turn causes the need for multiple supplemental bills, leading to taxpayer confusion. There was also concern over office management, specffically employee retention, and how it affects productivity and the work environment.

Roseville, CA....What good are tax dollars if our elected leaders don’t use them to provide citizens with basic and necessary government services? California is about to learn the hard way that all the money in the world means nothing if its leaders abandon reason and responsibility.
Sonora, CA...Tuolumne County is reporting 109 new COVID-19 cases on December 14th; 34 are community cases, including one who is a resident of local care facility. Seventy-five of the new cases are Sierra Conservation Center inmates. Three people have been discharged from the hospital and 26 individuals have been released from isolation. Two individuals have been transferred to their county of residence and this is reflected on our dashboard.

As the first doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrive in California, Governor Gavin Newsom today launched “Vaccinate All 58”, California’s campaign for a safe, fair and equitable vaccine for all 58 counties in the state. The Governor joined Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, one of the first locations in the state to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, as first doses were administered. Across California, vaccines will be administered in phases by prioritizing groups according to risk and level of exposure. Initial doses will go to California’s essential health care workers and those among our most vulnerable in long-term care settings.
