Frogtown, USA....The Friends of the Calaveras County Fair will be hosting their Pot O’Gold $10,000 Raffle again this year at the 2011 Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. Raffle Tickets for the $10,000 drawing are now for sale. Tickets can be purchased for $25 a piece, or $100 for 5 tickets. Tickets are pulled Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening before the main evening event for $1,000. Sunday night before the Destruction Derby, the winning ticket will be pulled and the winner will receive $10,000. Winners from the Thursday, Friday & Saturday night drawings are reentered into the .....

Frogtown, USA.....Eight bright talented young women will be competing for the title of 2011 Miss Calaveras and a $1,000 scholarship. The Miss Calaveras Scholarship pageant is an eight week program that culminates in the stage competition at the Calaveras County Fair. The Program offers more than $2,700 in scholarship awards for contestants.....

Frogtown, USA.....The Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee is a mecca of individuals and organizations volunteering to make the County’s signature event successful. The Fair has six standing committees that work all year to plan the annual event. The Junior Livestock Committee is the longest standing committee, created in the 1970’s. This group of 30 individuals works tirelessly to manage and operate the Junior Livestock Auction. In addition to facilitating the auction the committee advises the Board on livestock rules and procedures......

The life of carnival workers and their families is not easy. Much of the year is spent on the road. It’s hard to have a sense of belonging when moving around so much.
