Arnold, CA...Relay For Life of Calaveras County volunteers were out in force this morning painting Arnold Purple to get County ready for April 25, 2009 at Bret Harte Union High School for the 2009 Relay for Life! Volunteers started at 10am this morning in Arnold for their Show Us Your Hope Campaign. They tied purple ribbons all over town to show hope for a cure and generate community support. Murphys, CA...Baseball season is here and all the local leagues are starting their games. Opening day for the Ebbett's Pass Little League was this last Saturday and all of the other leagues are getting under way as well. Calaveras National Little League will have their opening day this Saturday in San Andreas, Foothills Little League in Valley Springs will be opening on April 18 and Calaveras American in Angels Camp is getting underway as well. From T-Ball to the Majors, the local teams are taking their swings at the 2009 season....

Murphys, CA...The Murphys Business Association and the whole town should be proud of the job they did hosting Murphys Irish Day for 2009. Crowd numbers by most estimates were well over 10,000, the weather was perfect and we hope all of those visitors left a bit of their green with our local merchants. On Monday afternoon we spoke with Parade Impresario Bob Reagan and congratulated him on another great event. Bob went on to mention that they just in the parade they had a total of 49 entrants with 391 people, 58 vehicles, 35 horses, 41 dogs and even a Brahma bull for good measure. It was a very fun parade to watch and Murphys is the perfect venue and backdrop for the celebration. We hope...

Murphys, CA...JUST IN !!!!! A new beer from "Oskar Blues" Brewery in Colorado, makers of the popular canned beers "Dales Pale Ale" and "Old Chub Scottish Ale". This beer is simply called "Gordon", but it is anything but a simple beer. Huge floral hoppy nose with restrained bitterness and a nice malt balance, this is a sipping IPA, in a league with our Green Flash IPA on tap......

Murphys, CA...Spring has Sprung and the Daffodils are Blooming at Ironstone Vineyards with almost 40 tons of Daffodil bulbs in full bloom. This past weekend was their Annual Daffodil Days. They welcomed the Northern California Daffodil Society for their regional daffodil bloom competition and the Calaveras Garden Club with their arrangement display. The Daffodil Society hosted their exhibit at the winery. They held their annual dinner in the Alhambra Music Room on Saturday evening with Bob Spots making a special presentation.
