Murphys, CA...It was another big night in the Annual Halloween Bash in the Rocky Hill Neighborhood in Murphys. We got there when it was still light to try and get a few photos. The real onslaught of the crowds had the streets wall to wall as we were finishing up. As usual the residents went all out to make sure our local munchkins had the baskets and bags filled with treats. If you have never attended a Rocky Hill Halloween it is a safe, sane and fun celebration for our kids. Local businesses and residents donate candy to help offset the not inconsiderable cost of "Treating" the revelers. The local fire district and Sheriff's dept volunteers are on hand to keep the peace and enhance the safety of the event.

| We were sent this lovely article from a San Francisco resident.....The lone bartender slid the wine glass across the stone-topped bar toward me, saloon-style. I was the only person in the grotto-like tasting room, and received full attention. "Want to start from the beginning?" she said. The beginning of an eight-wine tasting list is certainly a good place to start. Justin, the Lab, stretched out on the floor as I took my first sip of a Calaveras County Fair Gold Medal-winning 2008 Pinot Grigio. I'd come to Murphys for Hatcher Winery's semi-annual wine club event, a dinner and nearly unlimited tasting, however, I had time to scout out some more wineries before committing to the evening bacchanal..... |

Murphys, CA....They’re at it again! Michelson students were treated to a special assembly this morning. They saw how ears of corn grew on a stalk, how they were husked, and once ground what they could be used for. Victoria Nava and Rebecca Nava provided a tortilla demonstration while Michelle Lane, the school’s interpreter, related in English what the parents were saying in Spanish as they worked in front of the entire student body. These Michelson moms mixed corn flour and water showing the students .....

Arnold, CA...Lake Alpine has been producing some beautiful rainbows this past week. Tristen, an 8 year old caught an impressive 7lb rainbow. Kevin and John, two of our local young men also had a field day catching a limit of beautiful rainbows with the largest coming in at almost 3 lbs. The ramp is out of the water, so if you have a large boat it will be very tough to launch without doing damage to your boat and trailer....
