Valley Springs, CA...On Satruday morning Mark Twain Medical Center held their Summer Health Fair in Valley. Community Heath industry booths and Mark Twain Medical Center and Family Medical Center staff were on hand for free and low cost health screenings and more. Also there were Mark Twain Cancer Center's Michael Helwig the Registered Dietitian and Director Debbie Peterson. They are striving for the best in integrated cancer care close to home.
Murphys Mom Undergoing Heart Transplant Surgery Right Now

Stanford Medical Center, CA...Murphys resident Brandi Shipman Clark is under the knife at this time getting a heart transplant. Last fall she contracted an infection that attacked her heart. She went from being a hard working women and mother to being on the transplant list. Her transplant was scheduled to begin at midnight tonight....

Calaveras Health Department Urges Be Prepared for the Heat

San Andreas, CA....Temperatures are expected to hit the century mark in the foothills this weekend and through early next week. Dr. Dean Kelaita, County Health Officer, urges residents to prevent heat-related illnesses by being aware of the dangers and taking action. Infants, children and the elderly are at higher risk of heat illness. Other persons at higher risk of heat illness have health conditions such as obesity, fever, dehydration, heart disease, poor circulation, or misuse of drugs or Temperatures are expected to hit the century mark in the foothills this weekend and through early next week. For the staff, artists and patrons of Murphys Creek Theatre, visions of magical evenings filled with warm laughter and cool gentle breezes amongst the shadows of the oaks begin to come alive and dance in anticipation… For summer is the season of M.C.T.’s annual outdoor Shakespeare Festival at the Cornelia B. Stevenot Amphitheatre in Murphys, and their 19th season already promises to be very special and exciting!
Editor's Note: We were able to catch part of a performance last weekend. This show and venue are an event to see!!! Upgrades to the Cornilia B. Stevenot amphitheater, sparkling sets, a vineyard setting and a great show. Above are shots we took last weekend and a short video clip is below..
San Andreas, CA...The latest activity logs for our local Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies. The normal calls for disturbances, thefts, a fraudulent money order, etc. There were some animal related calls for two dogs left in a truck and also an altercation between a dog and a goat. Apparently it is an ongoing relationship problem between them....
