A slight chance of rain and snow in the morning...then rain and snow in the afternoon. Highs 39 to 54 higher elevations...50 to 60 lower elevations. Little or no snow accumulation. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon. Over ridges...prevailing south winds 10 to 20 mph increasing to 15 to 30 mph in the afternoon....

Murphys, CA....Our little wine mecca was filled to overflowing on Presidents Weekend. The main draw was Calaveras Winegrape Alliance's 18th Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend. Visitors could pick special wineglasses from several locations taste and sample the best of the fruits of the vine that our area has to offer. The weekend also serves as a good warmup for the area as the momentum builds for Irish Day that will flood the area with all things green on March 15th....

Taxpayers Promoting Constitution |

Copperopolis, CA...The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association (CCTA) is launching an outreach effort to promote constitutional principles through distribution of a booklet, The US Constitution and Fascinating Facts About It, to public officials and other leaders in Calaveras County. The group's President, Al Segalla, said "The first batch of booklets will be presented to county supervisors at the board meeting on Tuesday, February 25. More copies will be presented to other officials, educators and leaders in the near future. A Constitution contest with prizes for students is being considered. CCTA previously sponsored a student contest for posters and essays and the proud winners were presented awards from Congressman, Tom McClintock."

An artist’s reception in her honor will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1 with complimentary appetizers and wine available by the glass for $5. A highly-respected local artist, Papais’ original paintings are in private collections across the country and her prints appear in many galleries nationwide. Avery, CA...We found a very cute young Boston Terrier (female) this evening between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in Avery on highway 4 (right at the intersection near the post office). She is obviously well loved and cared for. She was not wearing a collar. She is uninjured but cold and scared. She was walking down the middle of the highway. She really wants to find her way back home. She is lucky enough to have a warm place to spend the night with a loving family (and awesome kids!). They have already posted some signs in the area. Please help them to find the family of this lost pup. Contact information is enclosed...

Kettle Chips $1.99 5 oz. Cadia Extra Virgin Olive Oil $7.79 750 ml Bananas & Coconut Milk Dessert Ingredients 2 organic bananas, large and very firm 1 cup Silk Coconut Milk 2 tablespoons organic sugar 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon Shredded coconut or slivered almonds for garnish Recipe Peel the bananas and cut into bite sized pieces. In a medium saucepan, bring the coconut milk to a boil. And the sugar and cinnamon, stirring to dissolve. Add the bananas. Bring back to a boil, then turn down the heat and simmer for 2 - 4 minutes, until the bananas are tender but not mushy. Serve hot, sprinkling extra cinnamon and garnish with shredded coconut or slivered almonds.
