Murphys, CA...There is still time to buy tickets for the Annual Renner Bonfire Party in the Vineyard this Saturday, May 3, 2014 starting at 6:30. Tickets are on sale for $50 ($45 for wine club members) in the Tasting Room on Main Street in Murphys, Online at Rennerwines.com or by calling the Tasting Room (209) 728-2314. This is the greatest event of the year at the biggest and most beautiful vineyard in Calaveras County. There will be a bar b que dinner, dancing to Plan B, a huge Bonfire, barrel tastings, great wine, vineyard tours and more...

Murphys, CA...Ironstone was Easter Central for young families last weekend. Their brunches were a sell out and then the families hopped out to the grounds for an Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Egg hunt was sponsored and organized by the Murphys Angels Lions Club and is one of their big events of the year....

Bear Valley, CA...The Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative has signed a non-exclusive letter of intent to purchase Bear Valley Mountain and village properties. This means that the time has come for supporters of Bear Valley and the Cooperative effort to purchase their co-op membership through the co-op web site at www.bvmcoop.org. The recent developments were announced at town hall style meetings held simultaneously at the Bear Valley Mountain and Bear Valley village on Saturday, April 12th. Details and the content of the presentations can be found at www.bvmcoop.org. In a packed community center, Mike Wallenfels of the Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative board told an audience of local homeowners that, “We have completed the first step in negotiations for Bear Valley Mountain and village properties and will start the process of reviewing their operations with the intent to finalize the purchase before the end of the summer.” At the mountain meeting, Steve Troyer, another board member, stated, “This review process will result in a multi year plan to purchase and revitalize Bear Valley which each cooperative member will be able to review before the purchase is ratified by the membership.” ...

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Association of Realtors held their county wide Candidates Night at the Bret Harte Theatre last Thursday night. The evening was significant for several reasons first and foremost it allowed all the attendees to see and hear those running for office in the June 3rd. We recorded the event and had a bit of trouble with the video but ended up getting it in a somewhat presentable format. We broke it down into two sections. The first part being the candidate's statements for all of the elected Department Heads, Judges Races and the District 3 and District 5 Supervisorial candidates. It was a lightly attended event possibly because it was at a "Neutral Site" and not at a venue within either of the hotly contested Supervisors races....

Angels Camp, CA....Fourteen young women are vying for the title of Miss Calaveras in the scholarship pageant which highlights opening night, May 15, of the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. The Fair runs May 15-18 at Frogtown in Angels Camp....
Last years top three are above and this year's Miss Calaveras candidates are Linly Baker of Murphys, Leah Jean Bayers of San Andreas, Mikayla Storm Lambert of Angels Camp; Catherine Latt of Valley Springs; Jacqueline Marois of San Andreas; Victoria Moes of Angels Camp; Victoria Nelson of Copperopolis; Sabrina Perez of Valley Springs; Brenna Purcell of San Andreas; Alexis Sandoval of Valley Springs; Ashley Van Kirk of Valley Springs; Ashley Sierra Varn of Arnold; Ashley Watts of San Andreas and Jacquelynn Williams of Valley Springs. |
