CCWD Board Adopts Mandatory Stage 3 Water Conservation

San Andreas, CA....During a regular board meeting held Wednesday June 11, the Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors adopted Stage 3 mandatory water conservation measures, effective immediately, which will affect about 12,600 customers. These conservation measures were adopted in response to Gov. Jerry Brown’s declaration of a drought state of emergency along with a curtailment notice from the State Water Resource Control Board sent out in early June. The district has encouraged its customers to voluntarily conserve water since Brown’s emergency drought declaration and is appreciative of the significant conservation many people have achieved over the past few months...

2014 Texas 4000 Team Rolls Into Murphys as Part of 4,000 Mile Cycling Trek

Austin, Texas...The longest annual charity bicycle ride in the world, the Texas 4000 team, will be rolling through Murphys on Monday, June 16th, 2014, just 17 days after departing from Austin, Texas on to their final destination of Anchorage, Alaska. While in Murphys, the 2014 Texas 4000 Team will celebrate and share Hope, Knowledge and Charity with friends and family before continuing on their 70-day journey. Seventy-nine, undergraduate and graduate, students from the University of Texas at Austin brave the rain, sleet, wind, snow, heat and will pedal over 4,500 miles in support of the fight against cancer. Along their journey, riders will volunteer at community events that contribute in the fight against cancer and visit with cancer survivors, patients, caregivers, and family members to make educational presentations about cancer prevention and early detection. They also use this time to offer hope, encouragement and share their personal stories to cancer fighters of all ages and to those who have been affected by the disease. Every encounter is an inspirational story the riders carry with them on their journey and quest to fight cancer...

Nature's air conditioning is functioning well at higher elevations with Lake Alpine forecast to be 27 degrees cooler. Today Mostly sunny. Highs 73 to 88 higher elevations...87 to 97 lower elevations. Prevailing east winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southwest in the afternoon. Tonight Clear. Lows 47 to 62 higher elevations...57 to 72 lower elevations. Prevailing west winds 5 to 15 mph shifting to the east after midnight....
