Mind Matters Renews Search For Executive Director

Murphys, CA...Wayne Brown, the retired Superintendent of the Stanislaus Union School District, who was chosen in July to be the first full time Executive Director of the Mind Matters Clinic in Murphys, has resigned because of pressing family problems. “This is one of the more difficult decisions I have had to make but it is the right one for my family and me,” Brown wrote in an email to Jan Alcalde, chair of the clinic’s board of directors. “I do not do this lightly.”

Vallecito, CA...(Tragically....Gabriel Goszulak, 16 from Arnold has passed away) A 16 year old Murphys man was driving a 2007 Mini eastbound on State Route 4 east of Vallecito Bypass Road, at a high rate of speed. For an unknown reason he unsafely turned from a direct course of travel to the left. The mini spun out of control in an easterly direction, traveling across the opposing lane and off the north side of the roadway. Subsequently, the Mini struck multiple trees at multiple angles. The Mini came to rest in a tree with the front tires elevated.

Murphys, CA...Vicki Sue (Shively) Morrisroe, 66, passed away on Oct. 5, 2015, at a hospital in Folsom, Calif., after a long illness. Born on Feb. 23, 1949, in Atlanta, Ga., Vicki spent her childhood moving among Air Force bases in Japan, Michigan and Nebraska before her family settled in Fair Oaks, Calif., in 1963. She graduated from Del Campo High School in 1967 and married Edward Morrisroe in 1969, after which they moved to Tuolumne County, Douglas Flat and then Murphys. She has lived in the same house in Murphys since 1978.
