Wear Your Green To The St. Patrick's Day Mixer At Murphys Hotel |

Murphys, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce its next mixer will be hosted by the Murphys Historic Hotel located at 457 Main Street in Murphys. This event will take place on Saint Patrick's Day, March 17 from 5:30 PM till 7:00 PM. The Murphys Hotel was first opened in 1856 and was known for many years as the Sperry & Perry Hotel. The hotel thrived as the stopover for stagecoaches en route from the railhead at Milton to the Calaveras Big Trees. Popular guests who stayed at the Murphys Hotel during its early years include Mark Twain, Thomas J. Lipton, J.P. Morgan, and former President Ulysses S. Grant. Copies of the original registration signatures may be viewed today in the hotel's lobby.

Calaveras County Announces Free Music In The Parks for 2016 |

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras Arts Council has hosted free summer concerts for over two decades. Music in the Parks 2016 will be another great music series. The “first day of summer” starts a week earlier in Calaveras County. On Wednesday, June 15, the Calaveras Arts Council begins its 25nd year of providing free music in the county parks from Copperopolis to Arnold, and Valley Springs to West Point. This fun filled musical road show is called Music in the Parks. Residents and visitors pack up their favorite picnic treats, pull together their lawn chairs and blankets, and set out for ten weeks of great music, family friendly environments, and kick back to savor the experience.

A host of local musicians including Cantamos with Michela Macfarlane, plus The Bill Welles Band. The evening will also include special guest singers from the San Francisco Women’s Choir Musae joining Michela on several tunes.

Avery, CA...When we started the AMA Snowsports program, we hoped an athlete would come along who was smart, athletic and a good soul blazing with passion for ski racing. When we met Michelle Morozinski, she was a shy little girl with a huge smile that radiated joy. Fast forward six years and she still has the big smile, but she has also developed killer focus and a commitment for excellence that has allowed her to dominate the Central Series in California winning 5 of the 6 races so far this year- dropping one by skiing too hard and missing a gate.

Murphys, CA...Next II on Main is closed temporarily while they make improvements. Next II On Main will reopen on Friday March 4th newly painted and decorated. No longer a consignment store for clothing. We will still consign handmade items, purses, jewelry, accessories.
