Bear Valley, CA...A bit of weather moves across the Northern Sierra Nevada today and then we clear for tomorrow. Today: Mostly cloudy. Numerous snow showers and scattered rain showers in the morning, then scattered rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Not as cool. Highs 28 to 40 higher elevations... 39 to 45 lower elevations. Little or no snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level 4500 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon. Over ridges, prevailing west winds 15 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Tonight: Mostly clear. Colder. Lows 15 to 30 higher elevations...27 to 33 lower elevations. Prevailing northeast winds up to 15 mph.

Murphys, CA...Murphys 4-H is sorry to announce that we will not be holding our annual Christmas Tree sale this year. Due to “logistical” reasons, our supplier in Oregon was unable to provide trees for our lot. We know picking out a tree at the Murphys 4-H Tree lot is a tradition for many, we are hoping it will return next year. !ank you for your past and continued support!

Bear Valley, CA...Mother Nature returns with a wave of rain & snow ahead of Thanksgiving. Bear Valley & other resorts are making snow and looking for Mother Nature to do her part as well. The NWS Forecast for the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada is: Today At lower elevations, rain. At higher elevations, snow and a chance of rain in the morning, then rain and snow in the afternoon. Breezy. Highs 35 to 50 higher elevations...43 to 57 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...3 to 5 inches higher elevations. Snow level 6500 feet. Prevailing south winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to around 40 mph...except south 25 to 40 mph over ridges. Tonight Rain at lower elevations...and rain and snow at higher elevations. Colder. Lows 26 to 40 higher elevations...38 to 44 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 35 mph.

Detectives Investigating Possible Arson Fire In Murphys

Murphys, CA...On 11/17/16 at 3:24 AM, Calaveras County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 2000 block of Nickerson Lane in Murphy’s for a vehicle fire. Deputies arrived on scene and observed a RV motorhome fully engulfed by fire. Witnesses on scene reported seeing a male subject running from the motorhome fire. Deputies learned that an argument arose between the RV owner and the tenant over an unpaid electricity bill resulting from a registered marijuana grow site.
