Murphys, CA....The ever so popular "Mr. Tortie" will pay a visit to Murphys Nursery on Saturday August 2nd. So head on out to say hi! What a great hands-on experience for the entire family! Mr. Tortie will be happy to sign autographs if you catch him in the right mood! No permanent markers please....As he is 80 and remains graffiti free:) If it's not a Greenhouse....It's not Murphys Nursery!

Angels Camp, CA....A little bit of country and history took place on Saturday at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp. Since cowboys are such an important part of the history and heritage of Calaveras County, the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the cowboy with a Barbecue Dinner and Dance. The National Day of the American Cowboy.....

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital has announced the availability of Free School Physicals for Calaveras and Tuolumne County students. The hospital is offering this community benefit through August at the Family Medical Centers located in Valley Springs and Copperopolis. Appointments must be made and a Sports Physical or School Entry Form presented at the time of the exam....

GRAMMY Winning Artist Returns to Moaning Cavern

Vallecito, CA....On Saturday, August 2nd from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Moaning Cavern will welcome back Native American Flutist Mary Youngblood and the Northern California Flute Circle for a third “back by popular demand” concert inside the cavern, located at 5350 Moaning Cave Rd. in Vallecito. Tickets are $24.95 for space on the cavern floor, $19.95 for space on Moaning Cavern’s famous spiral staircase, and $14.95 for space at the top of the main chamber. Murphys, CA....The Calaveras Chamber planned another successful mixer this evening. This month's event was held at the Enchanted Workshop in Murphys. Fabulous wines were provided by Twisted Oak winery. Owner Jeff Stai shared, "its fine wine." Labels on the tasteful wine bottles read "#%#&@!." How twisted is that?.....
