Prescribed Burn Notification: Jenkins Underburn, Groveland Ranger District, June 28, 2010

The Groveland Ranger District will conduct the Jenkins Underburn project on, or about Monday, June 28, 2010, depending on weather conditions, fuel moisture, and air quality. A total of 13 acres is to be treated with low to moderate intensity fire. The project is located approximately 9 miles southeast of the community of Greeley Hill, along Forest Road 2S05. The project is designed to reduce the invasion of noxious weeds, and to improve forest protection by reducing flammable underbrush....

Knights Ferry, CA...Calaveras County Dispatch was contacted by a Tuolumne County Deputy regarding a Tuolumne county man in his 40's that had fallen into a canal west of Tulloch Dam between 7: 30 and 8:30 pm last night. The canal where the man was last seen belongs to the Oakdale Irrigation District and is below the Goodwin Dam near Knights Ferry. Calaveras County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team members continue to search the area and called for CHP helicopter at first light to search the area from Goodwin Dam to Woodward Reservoir...

Sonora Man Fatally Injured in Solo Vehicle Acccident Thursday Evening

Sonora, CA...A 39 year old Joseph D. McKinley of Sonora was fatally injured in a solo vehicle accident last evening. He was driving his Toyota Tacoma near Clark's Fork Road and Hwy 108. Due to driving at an unsafe speed, he ended up off the roadway and collided with a tree. He succumbed to his injuries on scene. CHP release is enclosed. May our deepest thought and prayers go out to the family and friends of this deceased....

Tuttletown, CA...Crews are responding to Motorcycle down on Hwy 49 near Wilcox Ranch Road. An ambulance is responding as well but there is no report on injuries or severity of at this point. Please use caution in the area. Updated to minor injuries.

Sonora, CA.....Coming off their first win at Merced, the Hellcats were raging with derby energy and ready to play. The Hellcats took the lead vs. the Sn Cal Derby Vixens with the first jam and never looked back. In fact they put up such a big number that the score board couldn't handle all the digits. The Hellcats had a near sell out crowd on Saturday evening. The next bout will be August 14th against SinTral Valley. The doors open at 5:30 and the bout starts at 7:00 at High Country Sports Arena 18960 Waylon Way Sonora.....

Kennedy Meadows, CA....CHP is reporting an unoccupied big rig is over the side of roadway at Hwy 108 and Kennedy Meadows. They are stating Sonora Pass will be closed on Thursday for 8 hours to recover the truck.
