Sonora, CA...Sonora CA...Last night just before 9:00 PM and 1981 BMW drivin by an Angels Camp woman was traveling northbound on Rawhide Road, north of French Flat Road at approximately 40 miles per hour with a passenger in the right front seat. She was involved in a head on collision with a vehicle driven by a Salt Lake City man. The driver and passenger of the BMW were transported to SRMC for their injuries and her passenger 44 year old Dawn E. Hartwig, from Angels Camp succumbed to her injuries while en route to the hospital....

Sonora, CA...The Forest Service announced today that the Stanislaus National Forest (NF) is seeking public comment on preliminary 2015 off-highway vehicle grant applications for consideration by the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHVMR) Division. Forest recreation specialists have completed two draft grant applications, proposing a total of two off-highway vehicle (OHV) projects. The proposals are prepared under OHVMR Division program revised regulations approved in January....

One Search Warrant was served at a residence in the 16000 block of Creekside Drive and the other Search Warrant was served at McClouds Pet Emporium in the Junction Shopping Center. Sacramento, CA...The Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) extends its thanks to U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer for passing the Farm Bill Conference Report (Farm Bill) in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday. Through the passage of the Farm Bill, federal Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) funding is now officially extended for FY 2014, providing resources for rural California counties to provide critical government services. “Federal PILT funding is critical to California’s rural counties, and RCRC is grateful to Senators Feinstein and Boxer for voting to secure this one-year extension through the Farm Bill,” said Lee Adams, RCRC First Vice Chair and Sierra County Supervisor. “Now that we’ve secured the reauthorization for 2014, it’s time to work with Congress to enact a multi-year funding reauthorization, as was the process in years past.”

Birth Center Taking Special Precautions to Protect Newborns from Flu |

Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center has changed its Birth Center visiting policy during the current flu epidemic. Because of the rising number of confirmed flu cases in Tuolumne County, the Birth Center has established the following rules: Laboring mothers will be allowed two banded visitors during their entire stay. This includes the patient’s significant other. Banded visitors cannot be swapped with other visitors. Visitors under the age of 12 will not be allowed. This includes siblings. There will be no open visiting hours during this flu season.... |
