Sonora, CA....On 01/17/09, at approximately 3:00 PM, Corporal Mark Kerzich was on duty in uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle. While waiting at the Stop light at Hwy 108 and Washington Street (Sonora CA), a male subject, later identified as Kevin Oneal Hepstall, got out of his car an approached Kerich’s patrol vehicle. Hepstall approached the driver’s side in a very agitated and argumentative state. Cpl. Kerzich ordered Hepstall away from his patrol .....

Sonora, CA....On January 19, 2009, at approximately 2:00 PM, Deputies were dispatched to a reported suspicious vehicle in the area of Rogers Rd, Sonora CA. 16th Annual Celebration in Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. To Be Held in Sonora Today, January 16th

Sonora, CA..... A Celebration in honor of MLK will take place Sunday, January 16th at 2pm at the Sonora High School Auditorium. There will also be a reception and reception to honor The King to follow. Present will be Dennis Brown, Michele Allison, local singer and actress from Merced, the Sierra Waldorf Children's Choir and the Pinecone Singers. Rick Foster, will read from Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1967 speech, "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence." B.Z. Smith will also perform. Winners of the art/essay contest will also be announced. .....".Assuming you are old enough to remember, you would most likely be able to tell where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news that President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated in Dallas, Texas. I remember it precisely, as it was as if, for a short time, the world stopped. Everyone turned to a radio or television to get the latest information, as there was a collective shock and grief....

At Tuesday Meeting they will be adopting the Final 2009 BOS Goals; Accepting the resignation of Stephen Willey; They will also be discussing the consideration of approving the revision of the BOS Committees Organizations and Partnership Handbook for the Sheriff's Department; Consideration of approving the Agreement with Aramark Correctional Services, LLC to provide food and commissary services for the Tuolumne County Jail with an annual cost of approximately $357,000; First reading of an ordinance amending Section 3.56.020 of the Tuolumne County Ordinance Code revising advertising fees for Tuolumne County Transit buses. Twain Harte, CA.....On November 09, 2008, Deputies Lowry and Hobbs were dispatched to several reports of Auto burglaries and thefts from vehicles in the area of Twain Harte in the Tanager Drive area. There were approximately 8-10 vehicles that had been tampered with. Approximately 4 of vehicles had items taken from within.....

WATCH Program Workers Help Clean Columbia College Campus

Columbia College and WATCH Resources have finalized an agreement for contracted services to remove litter in parking lots on the college campus. Starting October 27, a team of WATCH workers will maintain the student parking areas and stairwells on Mondays and Thursdays. The workers are also enrolled as students in the college’s adaptive physical education classes.....

Overnight Fire Complete Destroys Columbia Area Home

Sonora, CA...An overnight fire on Jenny Lind Rd. in the Big Hill area of Tuolumne County completely destroyed a home and displaced a local family. When we spoke with Captain Murphy from CAL-Fire he said that a Mother, Father, their children and also a guest were displaced. The family escaped injuries but the house, garage, household contents and two cars in the garage were a total loss. The combined loss was estimated at over $250,000. One local firefighter sustained an injured ankle fighting the blaze...
