Sonora, CA...On 11/24/14 about 1155 a citizen reported to the Sheriff’s Office that he had observed what a appeared to be a deceased person, near the Railroad tracks on Tuolumne Road near the Junction Shopping Center. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and located a deceased male. The Deputies requested assistance from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division and Coroners Unit....

Sonora, CA...The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone that may have witnessed the shooting incident on Washington Street in the City of Sonora on Saturday 11/22/14 or specifically has audio or video recordings of the incident contact the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Division at (209) 694-2900. Columbia, CA...On 10/21/14 about 10:10 P.M. the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a subject in the 22000 block of Gunsight Road, Columbia reporting his neighbor had come to his home asking for help as he had been stabbed. Sonora Police Officer Hit, Suspect Killed & Citizen Injured In Exchange Of Gunfire After Traffic Pursuit

Sonora, CA... On 11/22/14 shortly after 10:00 P.M. the Sonora Police Department received a 911 call reporting a suspicious person with a handgun in the City of Sonora. The suspect left the scene and a vehicle description was obtained. A Sonora Police Officer attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, a pursuit ensued. The Sonora Police Officer was joined in the pursuit by units from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect stopped his vehicle on Washington Street in downtown Sonora. The suspect exited his vehicle with a gun. Shots were fired at the scene and two Deputies from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office and at least one Officer from the Sonora Police Department engaged the suspect....

Tuolumne County, CA... On 10/27/14 the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s recovered human remains from New Melones Resevoir. An autopsy was conducted, Detectives and members of the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department have been working to identify the deceased. The deceased has been positively identified as, seventy four year old, Wayne Morris Fry, of Tracy CA. Mr. Fry was reported missing in April of 1995, after....

Rim Fire Forest Closure Order Set to Expire

Sonora, Calif., (Nov. 14, 2014)… The Rim Fire Forest Closure Order expires on Nov. 17, and though this will increase recreational opportunities, caution in the burned area is still advised. Though the vast majority of the closure order has been lifted, there are a few sections deemed too dangerous for public travel, including Spinning Wheel and several roads in the Cottonwood area, which will impact access to Cherry Lake....
