Angels Camp, CA...The Mark Twain Biopic “88 Days” Premiered on Saturday night at the filled performing arts center in Angels Camp. The film captures the pivotal time for Mr. Twain when he found his voice and made the transformation from reluctant newspaper man into the literary icon he became. His yarn about the Celebrated Jumping Frogs of Calaveras County made that transformation possible for him. It was pivotal for our area as well as it has colored much of our post gold rush history. From towns such as Twain Harte to Bret Harte High School and our annual celebration of all things Frog. Those 88 Days live on....

Crime Spree & Arrest In Tuolumne County

Sonora, CA...During the morning of 20 February 2015, Christopher Warfield, 37 of Oakdale, was released from the Tuolumne County Jail, where he had been booked by the Sheriff’s Department on a warrant and for tampering with a vehicle. Warfield is on felony probation out of Stanislaus County for numerous violations, including burglary and possession of stolen property....

Sonora, CA...The Sonora Police Department’s Awards Committee recommended the following individuals be recognized as Employees/Volunteers of the Year for the Police Department. On 17 February 15, all the individuals were recognized before the City Council and were presented certificates for their accomplishment. 19 Year Old Woman Sexually Assaulted In Sonora

Sonora, CA... 16 February 2015, at approx. 7:56 pm, Officers responded to the area of the 300 block of South Shepherd Street regarding a female subject knocking on doors asking for help. Officers responded and contacted a 19 year old female, who reported she had been attacked and sexually assault by a stranger. The female reported she was walking on the trail which runs between 250 Greenley Road and Morning Star Court, around 5:30 pm, when a male subject approached her from behind and placed a knife to her throat. The male subject told the victim that if she didn’t do what he told her to do, he would kill her....

Sonora Police Department Investigating Armed Robbery At Koto's

Sonora, CA... 15 February 2015, at approx. 1:30 am, the Sonora Police Department responded to the Koto House, located at 70 Stockton Road, for a reported armed robbery. When Officers arrived they made contact with the owner. The owner related the business had closed for the night. While inside the office, he was approached by a male suspect. The suspect was wearing a ski mask and holding a knife, which he had armed himself with from inside the restaurant...

Sheriff Deptment K-9 Helps Apprehend Subject

Jamestown, CA...On 2/12/15 about 3:50 P.M. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies saw a vehicle driven by a female, later identified as 27 year old, Stephanie Foster on Circle Drive in Jamestown, CA. The passenger in the vehicle was 26 year old Andrew Buzinskis. The Deputies had prior knowledge that Buzinskis had two active Felony Arrest Warrants for narcotics violations and was suspected to be armed with a handgun. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle and Foster fled and attempted to evade the Deputies. A pursuit lasted approx.. 3/10 of a mile at which time Foster yielded on Golf Links Road. Buzinskis exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The Sheriff’s Department K9 (Justice) was deployed and the K9 entered the vehicle and bit Foster on the arm....
