4,407 Marijuana Plants Eradicated by Tuolumne County Narcotics Team at Marble Mountain

Tuolumne County, CA....On August 22, 2008, Tuolumne Narcotics Team (TNT), the California Department of Justice CAMP Team and members of the US Forest Service eradicated 4407 (four thousand for hundred and seven) Marijuana Plants from the Marble Mountain area of the Stanislaus National Forest. The plants were originally located during an aerial observation mission. The plants were 2-4 feet in height. If allowed to mature the plants would have had a street value of approx. $2500.00 a piece.....

FIRE NEWS......Two 1 1/2 Acre Vegetation Fires are Being Reported Across from Highway 49 at 19401 Rawhide Road....FIRE CONTAINED at 1:10pm

Tuolumne County, CA.... A Vegetation Fire is being reported (12:47pm) at Rawhide Road Across of Highway 49 near Sapphire Ridge Road. Units are responding to the fire now. UPDATE #1: The updated address of the vegetation fire is 19401 Rawhide Road near French Flat Road. Copter 404 has reported multiple structure being threatened at this time, and the size of the fire being approximately 1 acre in size. The head of the fire is being held at the end of a driveway. UPDATE #2: There is now two fires being reported near Rawhide Road, fires are a couple hundred feet apart and 1 1/2 acres in size. Both fires have a slow rate of spread. UPDATE #3: The spread of the fire has stopped and crews are working hard to contain the fire. Update #4: The fire has been contained as of 1:10pm. No structures were damaged in the fire. Units will continue to stay on scene for approximately 3 hours for mop up of the fire. Great Job Crews and Units.

Modesto Man Charged with Kidnapping/Domestic Violence....Bail of $100,000

Tuolumne CA....On August 19, 2008, at about 2:45 PM, Sheriff’s Units were dispatched to a reported domestic dispute and kidnapping call in the 18000 Blk of Hershey Road East, Tuolumne CA. While units were enroute, the suspect, later identified as Frankie Rocha, 38, a Modesto man, left the residence with the victim. The victim was taken against her will. A description of the vehicle was given to the Deputies who were enroute to the call. Deputy Rod Hobbs located the suspect vehicle and was able to make a felony traffic stop at Hwy 108 and Washington Street, Sonora. Deputy Hobbs was assisted by additional Sheriff’s Office units, Tuolumne County D.A. Investigators and Sonora Police Officers. Rocha was....

Tuloumne County, CA...Official Press Release from Tuolumne County Sheriffs Department....On August 16, 2008, at approximately 11:25 A.M., Emergency personnel were summoned to a possible drowning at Rainbow Pools, a popular swimming destination east of Groveland CA. Columbia, CA...On August 17, 2008, at approximately 1220 A.M. a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office SAR Team, specialized in Mine Rescues, arrived to assist Tuolumne County SAR with the Rescue of Darvis Lee Jr. At approximately 0215 A.M., Mine Rescuers were able to contact Lee and were preparing him for the rescue. On August 16, 2008, at approximately 10:30 A.M., Tuolumne County Sheriff’s and Tuolumne County SAR was dispatched to a reported mine rescue in the 21000 Block of Jack Page Rd., located outside the City of Sonora CA. Sheriff’s SAR Coordinator Cpl. Kelly Dickson responded to the area. He made contact with the reporting party, who were the victim’s parents and an unidentified friend. Pinecrest Lake, CA....On August 14, 2008, a subject attempting to locate a cell phone signal to make a call for help for an injured hiker; reported they saw a possible deceased person, near Cleo’s Bath, in the Pinecrest lake area. After assisting the injured person, Pinecrest Fire Department responded to the remote area and confirmed that the Gleason was deceased.....
