Its Official! Caltrans Announces Winter Closures of Ebbetts, Sonora & Monitor Passes.

Arnold, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has closed State Route 4/Ebbetts Pass, State Route 89/Monitor Pass, and State Route 108/Sonora Pass for the winter. State Route 4/Ebbetts Pass is currently closed from the Mt. Reba turnoff just west of Lake Alpine to Silver Creek, 5 miles west of the Route 89 junction (Alpine County). State Route 89/Monitor Pass is closed from U.S. 395 to the Alpine/Mono County line. State Route 108/Sonora Pass is currently closed from Kennedy Meadows (Tuolumne County) to the U.S. 395 junction in Mono County.

The 35th Annual Mutz Bean Feed is Today!

Sonora, CA...Fill up at lunch at the 35th Annual Mutz Bean Feed on Friday, Dec 15th! In addition to the cup of beans, they are serving quesadillas and garlic bread. The Sonora Area Foundation team will be ringing the bell from 1-2:30pm. Stop by to say hello! The feed is on Linoberg between The Sportsman and the Democrat.

Arnold, CA....Winter has arrived late but for some after last year's snow piles that isn't completely a bad thing. Now though as the winter resorts are in need of Mother Nature's blessings it is time for the storm door to open. The detailed forecasts for the West Slope & Mother Lode are below...

Sonora, CA...On December 07, 2023, at approximately 11:55 pm, a pedestrian was standing on the south shoulder of State Route 108, west of Sullivan Creek Road. At that same time, 41-year-old Courtney Johnson of Sonora was driving a 2012 Ford Expedition eastbound on State Route 108. As Ms. Johnson approached the pedestrian, he suddenly stepped into the roadway directly in front of her vehicle.
