Natural Bridges Trail to Reopen as Reclamation Announces New Melones Lake Seasonal Operations Changes

Tuttletown, CA....The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled recreation area closures, changes to hours of operations and the reopening of Natural Bridges at New Melones Lake beginning November 1.  The closures will be from November 1, 2020, through March 31, 2021, and will allow Reclamation to replace waterlines, perform other necessary maintenance tasks and allow for natural resource recovery.

Yosemite National Park Reverts to Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

Yosemite, CA..Yosemite National Park is experiencing high fire danger, along with continued hot and dry weather patterns. However, due to a reduction of overall fire danger and prevalence of active fires in the region, the Superintendent of Yosemite National Park will be reverting to Stage 1 fire restrictions until further notice is given.

Vehicular Manslaughter Charges for 19 Year Old Sonora Man in Death of Sonora Woman

Sonora, CA...On October 26, 2020, at approximately 6:15 pm, 19-year-old Augustus Matthew Marinovich of Sonora was driving a 2002 Toyota Pickup westbound on Phoenix Lake Road near Bear Cub Drive at a high rate of speed. At that same time, a 33-year-old Female of Sonora was driving a 1996 Suzuki SUV along with her 4 Juvenile passengers eastbound on Phoenix Lake Road, near Bear Cub Drive. Mr. Marinovich lost control of his vehicle and veered into the eastbound lane, striking the Suzuki SUV head on. After the impact, attempts were made to assist the female driver, however she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

A Large Feline Intruder Caught in the Act!

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office on Sept 16th, 2019 but still worth a post..."Last night, our deputies were called to the 16000 block of Oakhaven Lane in Sonora for reports of a break-in. The perpetrator slyly made his way through the open front door of the home. He did not threaten the resident or steal anything. After being spotted, he tried to make a run for it but ended up cornered in a bathroom. Fish and Wildlife were contacted and assisted our deputies in coaxing the mountain lion out of the second story bathroom window. He did get a stern warning about the break-in before being released.
