Columbia College Community Education undergoing change~Press Release by Doug Lau

For now, the Community Education Program at Columbia College will be put on-hold. All Com Ed classes, bus trips and vacations are canceled while the college develops plans for better implementation and more community utilization of this fee-funded program. Staffing, instructor costs, facility rentals and instructional supplies are all funded through student fees. ....

Tuolumne County, CA....Emergency Crews are working a big rig vs. vehicle collision at Hwy 120 and La Grange Road. Road is currently blocked so please use caution in the area. Roadway open as of 4:51pm, Minor Injuries.

JAMESTOWN, Calif. – On Saturday, August 15th, Railtown will celebrate the public safety personnel in our community. Representatives from many of our local police, fire, public lands and other emergency response agencies will be available from 11-3 pm. California State Parks’ Canine Handler Mike Gleckler and his patrol dog “Thor” will also make an appearance. Admission is free....

Tuolumne County, CA....A child playing with fire was the cause of 1/2 acre woodland vegetation burned 16000 Block Madrone Circle in Cedar Ridge in Tuolumne County on Saturday. No injuries. No dollar damage estimated at this time. Full CAL Fire report is enclosed...

Tuolumne CA....CHP is reporting a fatality at Hwy 120 and Sawmill Mountain Road involving a solo vehicle and solo occupant in Groveland this evening. More info to come as we receive it. CAL Fire States Fire on Mono Way Caused by Arson

Sonora, CA...We reported a small grass fire on Mono Way over the weekend. CAL Fire is stating it was Arson. The fire occurred on July 18th at 13494 Mono Way in Sonora. There were no injuries. Damage consisted of 1/4 acre of grass vegetation burned on Sierra Railroad land. Multiple units including Columbia Air Attack responded to this incident. CAL Fire report is enclosed....

Knights Ferry, CA...Crews from Multiple agencies are responding to a vegetation fire 2 miles east of Lovers Leap in the Knights Ferry Area. More to follow is necessary. UPDATE #1 9:15pm, Reports are coming in that there are power lines down in the area. No acreage estimate as of yet. More to follow as needed. UPDATE #2, 9:40pm, Fire contained at approximately 5 acres according to Jim at CAL Fire Command Center. Great job crews! CAL Fire report to follow as soon as we receive.

CHP is reporting a motorcycle down at Hwy 108 at Confidence Road in Tuolumne County with crews responding. Please use caution if traveling in the area. More to come as needed.....Roadway clear as of 12:10pm.

Tuolumne County, CA....A vehicle fire that spread to vegetation caused 33 acres to burn on Monday July 13th at Hwy 108 at Tulloch Road. Multiple crews responded including COLUMBIA: AIR ATTACK 440, COPTER 404, TANKER 82, 83, GROVELAND: BATTALION CHIEF 4416, ENGINE 4476, STANDARD: ENGINE 4455, 4475, PREVENTION 4421, BLANCHARD: ENGINE 4456, TWAIN HARTE: ENGINE 4460, 4465, COPPEROPOLIS: ENGINE 4462 GREEN SPRINGS: ENGINE 4468 BASELINE: DOZER 4445, HAND CREW 3, 5; LOCAL UNITS RESPONDING: OAKDALE: CHIEF 2, ENGINE 52, 61, MONO VISTA TCFD: WATER TENDER 569, JAMESTOWN TCFD: WATER TENDER 768.
