Game, Set & Match For Tennis Racket Assailant |

Sonora, CA...Early Sunday afternoon around 1 PM, the Sheriff's Office received several reports of a man with a tennis racket in the Junction Shopping Center assaulting people. A woman at the old McDonald's restaurant reported she was struck with a tennis racket by an unknown man at least five times and suffered minor injuries. The same man had also swung a tennis racket at a KFC employee. The victims did not know the suspect or why he was attacking them. A deputy arrived on scene but the suspect had already left the area.

Sonora/Jackson, CA...The Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency (ATCAA) announced today that Rajeev (Raj) Rambob will serve as the new ATCAA Executive Director effective 1/1/17 replacing Shelly Hance who is retiring at the end of the year with 35 years of service at ATCAA. Hance has served as Executive Director since 1991 following ATCAA’s founding Executive Director Rick Breeze -Martin.

Sonora, CA...Lumsden Road, about 4.5 miles off of Ferretti Road and a half mile above Merals Pool, is currently impassable due to a large rock slide.

Man To Be Extradited To Tuolumne County To Stand Trial For Attempted Murder |

Sonora, CA...On Saturday, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office received a tip from a resident in Nye County, Nevada with information on Schowachert's whereabouts. Authorities in Nye County were sent to the area he was seen and placed him under arrest. Schowachert was booked into their county jail and will eventually be extradited to Tuolumne County to stand trial for attempted murder.

Sonora, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest celebrates the selection of its Summit Ranger District as the U.S. Forest Service’s Region Five 2016 District of the Year. The annual award recognizes excellence in operations, customer service and conservation.

Tuolumne, CA... The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 120 from Old Priest Grade Road to Yosemite National Park for tree work.
