Traffic Update...Congestion in Soulsbyville Area

Soulsbyville, CA...Crews are landing an air ambulance near the Outpost for an extraction of a patient from a self-inflicted gunshot wound coming from the Twain Harte area. Multiple emergency and sheriff units are working in the area. Please use caution in the area until the incident has been finished...

Vehicle Chase in The Mother Lode This Evening

Calaveras County, CA...Shortly after 9:30pm, a vehicle chase started on O'Byrnes Ferry Road just south of the Tuolumne County line. It continued north up Hwy 4 eastbound towards Angels Camp. There are reports that spike strips were deployed at Hwy 4 and 49 according to Pine Tree reporter Patrick Works a caravan of vehicles traveled south on Hwy 49 still following a dark colored suv driven by a white male in his 50's. There were several CHP, Sheriff and Angels Camp Police vehicles following the vehicle south on Hwy 49. It appears the chase has ended just south of Jackass Hill. More to follow...


We are unsure of the starting point of the chase at this time. It was reported in Tuolumne County before crossing the bridge northbound on O'Byrnes Ferry Road

Columbia, CA.....The City Hotel will host a Dinner Show with Mark Twain on Valentine’s Day. The cost is $45 per person + tax and tip. The Briggs have added a Get-A-Way Package for Valentine’s Day, it is $275 for two which includes the dinner show, two glasses of wine with dinner, lodging, two drinks at the What Cheer Saloon, and continental breakfast. Jamestown, CA...All I can say is Wow!!! In this economy it seems like there is just no good news where health care is concerned. But I was delighted to find a clinic that caters to the needs of all patients. Even the uninsured. When insurance premiums increased to the extent that the equaled a mortgage payment, many people simply had to cancel their policy. It became a luxury that many American's could no longer afford. Sadly, residents all over Tuolumne and Calaveras counties are uninsured and not receiving the medical care they need. .....

Twain Harte Equipment Fire on Wednesday

Twain Harte, CA...On Tuesday, January 19th, 2011, CAL Fire reported an equipment fire at 18555 Cheryl Way in Twain Harte. A 2008 Caterpillar Skid Steer Loader was reported a total loss with an estimated dollar damage reported at $40,000. Cause of the fire was a hydraulic leak in the motor. Fire report enclosed.....

Sonora, CA...The wate rlevel, power generation and ongoing operations of New Melones were front and center at today's Tuolumne Couty Board Meeting. You may recall a firestorm erupted after the Oakdale Irrigation District came out with a report on the June 2009 National Marine Fisheries Service Biological Opinion would show drastic water level reductions...

Reckless Driving in Chinese Camp

Chinese Camp, CA...Yesterday at around 7:30 pm, Deputy Jeff Gempler responded to a complaint of a vehicle spinning brodies in the parking lot of the Chinese Camp School. When he arrived he pulled into the parking lot entrance and saw a white Toyota pick up truck coming toward him. The truck continued past him and head west on Red Hills Rd. at a high rate of speed. Dep. Gempler turned on his emergency lights and attempted to stop the truck which was travelling at approx. 50 mph. Eventually the driver attempted to turn into a driveway at 13255 Red Hills Rd. but crashed into a fence...

Columbia State Historic Park, CA.....Chef Jeff Briggs, along with his wife Jackie, hosted the grand opening of the City Hotel and restaurant yesterday in the Columbia State Historic Park. Last nights dinner was sold out weeks ago, but reservations are available for the weeks ahead, as the Briggs family adds operation of this beautiful and historic venue to the long list of other concessions they've handled in Columbia....
