Truckee, CA...Northstar At Tahoe rolled out the red carpet for the USSA Junior Olympic Qualifier in Giant Slalom this last weekend. Close to 200 of the best skiers on the west coast descended on one of the crown jewels of the North Tahoe area. The Northstar at Tahoe race department, grooming crews and race team did a great job of providing a great, challenging race course. The racers vied to be the fastest down the long course that rewarded strength, speed and stamina....

Twain Harte Man So Sadly Loses Life in Motorcycle Accident....CHP Release Enclosed

San Jose, CA....On February 5th, 2011 at approximately 12:15pm a 69 year old Twain Harte resident was riding a 1999 Harley Davidson Sportster southbound on Calaveras Blvd. north of Pelter Rd. at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons at this time, the motorcyclist and his motorcycle unsuccessfully navigated a turn in the road and traveled off the roadway and down the east downward embankment of Calaveras Blvd....

Cedar Ridge, CA...If you see fire equipment moving in the Twain Harte area....Crews from multiple agencies are responding to a reported structure fire in Cedar Ridge in the Brookside and Hillside area. More to follow if needed. Fire Officials have deemed the smoke in the area from a debris burn. All units have been canceled...

Pat Kaunert Joins Fire Safe Council

(Sonora, CA January 28, 2011)…Highway 108 Fire Safe Council (FSC) President Jerry Tannhauser today announced the appointment of Sonora resident Pat Kaunert to the Council’s board of directors. Kaunert recently retired from the U.S. Forest Service, and had served for five years as the agency’s liaison to the Fire Safe Council for strategic communication, public outreach, and fire prevention information-education programs...

TCEDA Small Business Center Opens

Sonora, CA.....Economic Development Director Larry Cope announced today that the new TCEDA Small Business Center is open and will provide a private meeting and a conference training room for business consultants from the Business Alliance of Tuolumne County and other partners. Through the Business Alliance, four business consultants from the Alliance SBDC, and over 13 active SCORE consultants met with 350 new small business clients in 2010. “There was a real need for professional office space for confidential client meetings. “Office space for consultants to meet with their clients was extremely limited, this new small business center will solve that problem,” explains Cope.....
