Soulesbyville, CA...He is a person of interest in a string of trailer and fork lift thefts in the Soulsbyville, Willow Springs area. The white Chevy S10 truck used in the video to steal the trailer was reported stolen out of Mono Vista. The forklifts and trailers were discovered abandoned in Willow Springs by the Clubhouse and on Standard Road in the Natures Whole Foods parking lot.
Vegetation Fire Under Investigation Near Sonora High School

Sonora, CA...On Tuesday October 24th, just before 1:00 P.M., the Sonora Police Department received a call of a vegetation fire on Snell Street west of Sonora High School. Sonora Fire and Police Department officials responded to the area. Upon arrival, fire officials observed a vegetation fire located on the hillside along the north roadway edge of Snell Street. The fire was burning in grass and oak woodland and was approximately ¼ acre in size. During suppression activities, fire officials believed the cause to be suspicious and contacted the Sonora Police Department’s Fire Investigation Unit. Sonora Police Department Fire Investigators responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation.
Yosemite on List of National Parks Seeking $70 Peak Season Entrance Fee

Yosemite, CA...As part of its commitment to improve the visitor experience and ensure America’s national parks are protected in perpetuity, the National Park Service (NPS) is considering increases to fees at highly visited national parks during peak visitor seasons. Proposed peak season entrance fees and revised fees for road-based commercial tours would generate badly needed revenue for improvements to the aging infrastructure of national parks. This includes roads, bridges, campgrounds, waterlines, bathrooms, and other visitor services.
Caltrans to Host a Public Meeting about Potential Safety and Mobility Project in Groveland

Groveland, CA...TUOLUMNE COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Tuolumne County Transportation Commission are hosting a public meeting to discuss a potential project that would improve safety and efficiency for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians in the town of Groveland. The meeting will start at 5:00 p.m. as originally scheduled, but the public presentation will also begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will end at 5:45 at the request of the community.

Columbia, CA...The Columbia College Foundation will host an enlightening look at the changes and challenges of today’s Native American experience Thursday, November 16. Speakers include author and ethnic studies professor Dr. Melissa Moreno of Woodland Community College, Carlos Giesdorf (Me-Wuk), Cultural Coordinator of the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk, and Columbia College Counselor Stephanie Beaver (Hupa) who will moderate. The event, held during National Native American Heritage Month, will be held in the Dogwood Forum at Columbia College and is free to the public. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the evening’s program will run from 6:30-8:00pm.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Robbery in Sonora

Sonora, CA...On October 17, 2017 around 4:00 p.m., Sonora Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Stockton Road and Hwy108 for a report of an assault. Officers arrived on scene and met with CHP Officers who had been flagged down by a male and female couple, reporting the assault.
