Sonora, CA....The Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors reviewed all nominations submitted by the public for the annual Best of Tuolumne County Awards at their October meeting. Much discussion took place regarding each nomination and then a secret ballot vote was held. Angels Camp, CA..On October 30th, 2011, at approximately 7:48am, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was dispatched to a report of a reckless drive traveling north on Hwy 49 near Carson Hill. An off-duty Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputy that was on his way to work was passed by the reckless driver and he reported the information to dispatch....

Columbia, CA...Friends of Columbia and Columbia State Historic Park will once again surprise and delight participants on the evenings of December 2nd and 3rd with a celebration of the Christmas spirit during the 28th annual Lamplight Tour. This year’s production ‘Twas a Night in Columbia will celebrate the holiday spirit in the year of 1862, with a tour by lamplight through small vignettes while volunteers act out a story in the streets of Columbia. The tour will culminate with music and refreshments in Angelo’s Hall. These magical holiday night tours only happen once a year so make your reservations early...

Choirs to Gather for a “Festival of Singing”

Derby Girs Roll Into 3rd Season

Sonora, CA...High Country Mountain Derby Girls (Tuolumne/Calaveras Counties only Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Program) are completing their third season with a Triple Header on November 5, 2011. Three years ago, the High Country Sports Arena's figure skating coach, Maria Hines, began the very first roller derby program in Tuolumne County, with just a flyer and by word of mouth. Though Hines is a National Champion Roller Figure Skater and figure skating coach, she is not a Derby Player herself. It is through her experience in figure skating that has set her Derby Girls apart from so many other leagues with her strong focus on skating skills, fitness and sportsmanship...
