Angels Camp, CA...The latest schedule of road repairs and maintenance that will affect your travels in our area and as you travel. Locally crews will be working on many of our roadways. Below is Caltrans plans for repairs and maintenance on local roads. It shows the route, county and location of the possible repairs. Weather and other factors can alter their schedule.

Flooding Forces Full Highway Closure of State Route 59 in Merced County

Snelling, CA...From Caltrans...Caltrans has closed northbound and southbound State Route 59 (SR-59) for five miles from Reilly Road to Sandy Mush Road in Merced County for repair work following last week’s heavy rain. The photos below are of the bridge at Mariposa Creek, where crews are watching vigilantly and awaiting for the water level to drop to an optimum level so they can safely re-open SR-59. The closure is expected to last multiple days, in order to safely allow the water level from the crossing with Mariposa Creek to fall before re-opening the road.

Coulterville, CA...From the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office....The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office has been searching for two missing from the 3/22/2018 Storm / Flooding Event. Missing Person Details: Carol Brown 72 of Catheys Valley, On March 22nd at approximately 5pm Carol left her house to check on horses due to the heavy rain and flooding. When Carol did not return back to the house after 30 minutes her husband started to look for her and found their side by side utility vehicle she was driving laying on its side in the creek / river.

Coulterville, CA...Fron his family..."MISSING: JOHN HONESTO — LAST SEEN IN GREELEY HILL, CA ON THURSDAY, 3/22 ABOUT 12:30PM. DRIVING: 2015 Black Toyota Avalon, license plate number 7HRT316. PLEASE REPOST, ESPECIALLY PEOPLE WITHIN THE AREA. Your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes are appreciated but your help is vital. Help my father come home safely. UPDATE- I want to thank everyone for all the love and support during these chaotic times. My dads car was located. When HWY 132 washed out, his vehicle went down with it. They were able to locate the vehicle 1.6 miles downstream. He was not in the vehicle. We're praying for a miracle that he was ejected and alive.

Major Injuries to La Grange Man After Traveling Through Caution Signs

La Grange, CA...On March 23, 2018, at approximately 0550 hours, Mr. Sandlin of La Grange was driving his 1999 Dodge Ram pick-up westbound on Ranchito Drive west of Carrillo Way at a stated speed of approximately 50 miles per hour. Mr. Sandlin traveled through a set of cautionary signs blocking the road due to a washout of road just west of that location. Mr. Sandlin failed to notice the road ahead had washed away. Mr. Sandlin’s Dodge became airborne as it traveled into the approximate 30 foot section of washout in the road. The Dodge struck the opposing side of the washout and came to rest on its left side. Mr. Sandlin extricated himself from the Dodge and called 911 for assistance. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected in this collision.

Arnold, CA...Significant low elevation snow into the weekend. A cold system with low snow levels and heavy snow will drop south over the region into the weekend. The heaviest snow will be this afternoon through tonight, and again Saturday night. Significant travel delays are expected.

Tough Afternoon in Tuolumne & Mariposa Counties as Flash Floods Threatened Moccasin Creek Dam

Sonora, CA...The rains and rapid melting snow runoff caused some anxious hours today as the Moccasin Creek Dam threatened to give way. There was also damage to numerous local roadways that will take some time to get repaired and back open. Below the Tuolumne County Sheriff talks about the afternoon. We also included the running updates from this afternoon from Caltrans District 10 and the Sheriff's Office to give you and idea of how the events progressed.

We are very grateful to have had the help from Senator Tom Berryhill, Assemblyman Frank Bigelow, and Mayor Connie Williams in reaching out to our mature drivers in Sonora. Arnold, CA...From the National Weather Service...Significant low elevation snow into the weekend. A cold system with lower snow levels and heavy snow will drop south over the region into the weekend. The heaviest snow will be tonight with a second round Saturday night. Significant travel delays are expected.
