Sonora, CA...CHP is reporting an injury accident between an SUV and a Delivery truck at Phoenix Lake and Meadow Brook Drive. Please use caution in the area as this one will probably take a while to clear...Update Roadway clear.

Possible Fatality at Hwy 108 Just North of Hwy 120....West Bound Lane will be Blocked for Some Time

CHP Sonora, is reporting a Possible Fatality at Hwy 108 at Hwy 120. Apparently this is involving a solo vehicle rollover. Traffic will be backed up for some time, and is being detoured. More details to come as we receive them. Lanes open as of 3:50pm. Confirmed Fatality. Updated with CHP Release. We want to express our deepest thoughts to the family and friends who knew the driver of the vehicle.....

Sonora, CA...With the new signs in place and the shelves starting to fill up we thought it might be a good time to see when opening day would be at hand for the new PriceCo Foods in the Junction Shopping Center. We were told they are scheduled to open next Tuesday. This should be welcome news for the other tenants of the center with the impending Gottschalks Closure. The return of a Grocery Store as an anchor tenant should provide many additional visitors to the center. A very successful...

Tuloumne County Visitor's Bureau Celebrates National Travel & Tourism Week

In honor of National Travel and Tourism Week, May 9-17, 2009, the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau is launching a program of activities to educate the community on the economic and social impact of tourism and to recruit volunteers to better serve visitors to the region. The outreach program will include two new tools: 1) A video featuring interviews of local business owners on the importance of tourism to Tuolumne County to be posted on YouTube and, 2) a new PowerPoint presentation on the impact of tourism to the community that will be used for programs with various community organizations. 23 Year Old Female Drowns Near South Shore Lake Tulloch....Name Now Released

The name of the victim has been identified as 23 year old Alicia Marie Corral from Oakdale CA. An autopsy was performed and it was determined the cause of death was drowning.....On April, 17, 2009 at approximately 5:30 PM, Sheriff’s Office units were notified of a subject that fell into the canal near South Shore Lake Tulloch, west of Jamestown CA. Sheriff’s Patrol units and Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue were dispatched to the area. Notifications were also made to Stanislaus County Sheriff and Fire agencies. .....

Tuolumne County, CA....CAL Fire states a kerosene lantern being dropped was the cause of a structure fire at 16359 Creekside Drive in Crystal Falls on Tuesday April 14th. There were no injuries, estimated dollar damage is $1250.00 for structure and contents. Full CAL Fire report enclosed...

Columbia College Presents 40th Commencement on May 1

Columbia College will hold its 40th Commencement on Friday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Oak Pavilion. A reception for the graduates, their families, friends and guests will be held immediately after the ceremony in Carkeet Park next to the pavilion. Among the graduating class, 123 associate in arts degrees will be conferred, 37 associate in science degrees, 14 associate in science (occupational education) degrees, and 49 certificates of achievement. Nine will graduate with distinction (cumulative grade point averages of 3.75 or better) and 24 with honors (between 3.5 and 3.74 grade point averages)......

Jamestown, CA...The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse converged on Golden State Cellular’s corporate headquarters this morning however; no arrests were made. Instead GSC’s General Manager, Dan Rule was presented the Posse’s Top Hand Award. The company has been a long time sponsor of the Posse’s popular Mother Lode Round-Up and the award recognizes the years of support.
