Sonora Man Arrested on Arson Charges

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept..."On September 10, 2018 at about 7:59pm, Stanley Jesse Wooden, of Sonora, was arrested for arson, which took place on September 6, 2018 at the Intake Grill. The investigation is still active. Wooden was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for arson of an inhabited building with a bail of $75,000.00.

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept..."Early Saturday morning, just before 1:00 a.m., we received a call from the Emergency Room concerning a patient who was being treated for a possible stab wound. Officers responded and contacted a 28-year-old male victim with a small puncture wound to his neck and a laceration to one of his fingers.

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office...."Tuolumne County, you are our eyes and ears out in the community. We need your help in our search for a car thief. Around 2 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, one of our deputies was driving west on Campo Seco Road in Jamestown when he saw a silver Jeep SUV stopped in the eastbound lane with its headlights on. When the deputy passed the vehicle, he heard the Jeep start and then jump forward before stalling.

67 Year Old Sonora Man Loses His Life in Vehicle vs Electric Bicycle Collision

Sonora, CA...(Monday morning update...The bicyclist was 67 year old Sonora resident, John Richard Kikugawa) At approximately 1740 hours, Mr. Williams was driving his 2006 Buick Rendezvous southbound on SR-49 approaching the intersection of Old Sonora Columbia Rd. A that time, a 67 year old Sonora man was riding his electric bicycle, without a helmet, southbound, along the right roadway edge line just ahead of the Buick. From the right hand edge of the roadway, the bicyclist made a left turn towards Old Sonora Columbia Rd, directly into the path of the Buick. Mr. Williams took evasive action, but was unable to avoid a collision with the rider and his electric bicycle. The collision propelled the man into the air before landing in the roadway.

The Pacific Crest Trail Reopens as Donnell Fire Reaches 87% Containment

Bear Valley, CA...The Pacific Crest Trail is open to public use. Fire activity has been minimal during the past week, with an overall fire growth of only 150 acres since Sunday September 2. The Stanislaus National Forest Burned Area Emergency Rehabilitation (BAER) Team is currently working on their soil assessment regarding the burn severity for the Donnell Fire. Weather conditions are expected to become warmer and drier during the next couple of days. The conditions to produce afternoon thunderstorms still exist; however, it will be less than previous days. We will continue to update you with any threats over the fire area.

Summerville lost Friday's home game against Hughson 12-9. Amador won Friday's away game against Union Mine 55-28. Argonaut won Friday's game against Sierra Ridge Academy/ROP 49-8.

Forward Progress of the 500 plus Acres Tullock Fire Stopped

Jamestown, CA...The Tullock Fire is burning near Hwy 108 and Tulloch Road, 13 miles east of Oakdale. We checked in with Calfire TCU Command and forward progress of the Tullock Fire that has grown to over 500 acres has been stopped. They are calling it now 25% Contained. Traffic is still being impaired on Hwy 108 in the fire area and please use caution in the area for the next several hours and they get this one contained and controlled.

Below is Caltrans plans for repairs and maintenance on local roads. It shows the route, county, and location of the possible repairs. Caltrans Closing State Route 132 in Tuolumne County for Culvert Repair.

Tuolumne, CA...Caltrans will conduct a full closure of eastbound and westbound State Route 132 (SR-132) in Tuolumne County, to replace a failing culvert that is used to carry water under the road.The closure is scheduled to begin at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, and the work is expected to be finished by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018. This will be a full 24/7 closure during the length of the project and a marked detour will be in place. The culvert is approximately 1.5 miles east of Bonds Flat Road and 1 mile west of Merced Falls Road. The culvert was damaged during the storrns that rock. western Tuolumne County last spring, and repairs were delayed until after Labor Day to minimize impact on the region's economically critical summer tourism season.
