Twain Harte, CA...In the face of news just this week that the Zika virus has now taken firm hold in the U.S., 4th Congressional District candidate and physician Dr. Bob Derlet said 4th CD incumbent Tom McClintock's silence on plans to fight the deadly and debilitating virus should be worrisome for district voters. Dr. Derlet said California harbors mosquitoes capable of spreading the Zika virus. News reports have confirmed at least 15 cases have been documented in Florida, spread by Florida mosquitoes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention took the rare and possibly unprecedented step in urging people not to travel to parts of the U.S.

Traffic Update...Fatal Motorcycle Crash On Jacksonville Road

Jamestown, CA...CHP is reporting a fatal motorcycle collision near Hwy 120 and Jacksonville Road. The coroner has been called. A tow request is also in for a sportbike with major damage. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims friends and family. Lets be careful out there. Life can be over in an instant.
RIM Fire Paved Roads Project Begins On Stanislaus National Forest

Sonora, CA...Operations associated with post-Rim Fire operations necessitate the repair of a section of road on the Mi-Wok RD, Stanislaus National Forest (STF) beginning mid-August. Cottonwood Road (1N04) pavement repair is scheduled to begin approximately August 15 and necessitates an approximate 60 day partial closure, scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
