Sharon Ash Honored as Mentor of the Month for March 2014

Angels Camp, CA....The Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program has designated Arnold resident Sharon Ash as its March Mentor of the Month. Sharon has been matched with sixteen-year-old Diana Westphal for the past seven years. “Sharon and Diana enjoy one of our program’s longest continuous friendships,” said Colleen Dolan, Coordinator of Mentoring Programs for the Calaveras County Office of Education. “This means that they both have contributed a lot to the policies, practices, and general strength of the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program.”

Mokelumne Hill, CA....Vietnam Veteran and former Mokelumne Hill resident Gary Keith Wills, 63 years old and born on November 10, 1950 passed away Feb 25, 2014 in Oakland Ca. He is a father of three children, Angie Rae, Amber lee and Riley Wills. Amber Lee proceeded him in death in 1990 and his father Pug Wills of Mokelumne hill in 2002 and his sister Donna Carroll-Hill in 2009. He is survived by His mother and step-father of Volcano, two sisters and their families from Mokelumne Hill and his brother and family from Oakley. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins in Calaveras County. Gary Wills's memorial service will be Saturday March 15th, 11:00, Moke Hill Church Veteran gravesite services at 12:30.

Taxpayers Promoting Constitution

Copperopolis, CA...The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association (CCTA) is launching an outreach effort to promote constitutional principles through distribution of a booklet, The US Constitution and Fascinating Facts About It, to public officials and other leaders in Calaveras County. The group's President, Al Segalla, said "The first batch of booklets will be presented to county supervisors at the board meeting on Tuesday, February 25. More copies will be presented to other officials, educators and leaders in the near future. A Constitution contest with prizes for students is being considered. CCTA previously sponsored a student contest for posters and essays and the proud winners were presented awards from Congressman, Tom McClintock."
