San Andreas, CA...Beginning on 7/9/18, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office along with the California National Guard Counter Drug Task Force and several cooperating agencies began serving a series of criminal search warrants throughout Calaveras County. The search warrants were part of a month’s long operation into the illegal cultivation of marijuana/cannabis and directly associated environmental crimes.

Dr. Eldo Frezza is a Board Certified General Surgeon, specializing in breast surgery, wound care, colorectal surgery, and advanced technology in hernia surgery. San Andreas, CA...It was another special evening in San Andreas as the Class of 2018 marched across the podium and into the next phase of their lives. It was impressive to see the 21 Valedictorians who all maintained a 4.0 or better in all of their 4 years. Most impressive at least to us was Jared Renberg. Not only was he one of the Valedictorians but also had perfect attendance from kindergarten all the way through high school. When you click on most of the group photos they will go to a full sized image.

San Andreas, CA...LEGAL NOTICE: NOTICE IS GIVEN that the polls will be open on June 5, 2018, for the Statewide Direct Primary Election from the hour of 7:00 a.m. to the hour of 8:00 p.m. (EC 12102). The Calaveras County Elections Department will be open Tuesday, June 5, 2018, Election Day, from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. to obtain, exchange/replace or return a vote-by-mail ballot. Personally delivered ballots must be delivered by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before June 5, 2018, and received by the county elections office no later than June 8, 2018.

San Andreas, CA...Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 8:00 AM the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will require burning permits within State Responsibility Areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. Burn hours will not be restricted; however, a transition to night time burning may occur as conditions change.

We hope everyone enjoyed the chili, bake sale, snack bar, petting zoo, silent auction, and dessert auction. Our families worked hard to put on this event and could not be more grateful for the supportive attendance we received from the community!

Paloma, CA...Longtime Calaveras Resident Jason Paul Berry died Saturday, April 14, 2018. He was 63. Born in Los Angeles, California, on 8 August 1954. During his parents quest for California from Vermont, his first home was a motel room where his Mom and Dad used a dresser drawer and swaddling clothes for his short time there in Los Angeles. His Mom and Dad traveled with Baby Jason to the Bay Area and setlled in Palo Alto for a short time. Next they moved to Milpitas and eventualy settled in Fremont. While in the Bay area, Jason's Parents started a family business " Metal Craft" where Jason grew up and later worked in the very successful family business.
