San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors will kick off their fall sessions next Tuesday, September 8th with a full agenda. They start off the meeting with proclaiming September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Emergency Preparedness Month and then did into the full agenda below....

San Andreas, CA...September 1, 2015- Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be holding its 17th Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, September 26th from 7am to noon on the Hospital Campus in San Andreas. “Hosting our community health fairs allows us to express our gratitude to those that entrust us with their health care needs,” said Craig Marks, Hospital President. “Our health fairs benefit individuals that are underserved or working towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our providers and staff are here to share preventative care and health maintenance tips. Providing affordable health care services is one way we serve our community. This is a joint effort with many other entities working together, especially the Health Care District that helps fund this initiative, to ensure that Calaveras County residents can thrive in a healthy community.”

Angels Camp, CA...The Washington Post ran an article on August 17th, 2015 citing a USDA study of all 3,111 counties in the contiguous United States ranking them in scenic beauty and climate. The purpose of this study was to predict the movement of rural populations across the nation based on desirability of location. Calaveras County ranked 14th and we’re delighted to boast that we came in 9 counties ahead of Napa (which was 23rd), and just above Mariposa, home of Yosemite..
Valley Springs, CA...Pauline Laurie Timeus, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother passed away on June 29, 2015. She was born in Pasadena, CA on March 6, 1921, to Margaret E. McCormick and Albert J. Henry. She married the love of her life, Charles R. Timeus after WWII ended and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon. Later she moved to Southern California where her 2 Sons, Mark and Brenton and Daughter Sharon Attended school...
Burson, CA...On 8-4-15 at about 0252 hours, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed crossing double solid yellow lines. Deputies observed the vehicle driving in the opposing lane at speeds in excess of 70 mph. The vehicle described as a truck pulled into a driveway located on the 12000 block of Pattison Road in Burson and lost control into a marijuana cultivation site. The driver was contacted and subsequently arrested for failing to yield; he was identified as 37 year old Burson resident James Milton Buckley Jr. Deputies conducted a search of his vehicle and located a large quantity of methamphetamine, about 1.16 pounds. Deputies secured a search warrant for the property...
Calaveras Taxpayers Announce Three New Taxpayer Alert Shows

San Andreas, CA...Three new shows have been uploaded to YouTube and can be accessed at CalaverasTaxpayers.org. "Taxpayer Alert" is a public service effort by volunteers and sponsored by the Calaveras County Taxpayers Association and the Public Access Television Studio. The programs are also viewed on Comcast Cable Channel 7. Taxpayer Alert invites public officials and experts to review current issues and hot button topics. At election time, candidate forums are video taped for public information.
Valley Springs, CA...Born May 1st, 1943 in Tacoma, WA passed away July 5th, 2015 at the age of 72 in Valley Springs, CA where she had resided for 15 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed quilting, painting, crocheting and square dancing.
