Governor Brown Signs Bill Barring Redskins Mascot Name

Sacramento, CA...(Yesterday Governor Brown Signed AB-30 which would ban the use of the Redskins Mascot Name. The following is an earlier press release that gives details on the bill) Assembly Bill 30, authored by Assemblymember Luis Alejo (D-Salinas), passed the Assembly Floor on concurrence with a bipartisan vote of 59 to 9. Earlier this week, the State Senate also approved this bill with a bipartisan vote of 25 to 10. Assembly Bill 30 will establish the “California Racial Mascots Act,” phasing out the use of the term “Redskins” as a school or athletic team name, mascot, or nickname in California public schools.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center ia promoting the importance of early detection of breast cancer, followed by prompt treatment, saves lives. The annual ‘Pink in the Night’ opening ceremony October 1st, in Valley Springs kicked off the month of awareness. All those who currently have breast cancer, survivors and support providers were invited to light a candle in tribute to those who are currently battling breast cancer, in remembrance of those that bravely lost their battle, or ones that have survived the disease.

Isiah Fowler Found Guilty In His Sister Leila Fowler's Death

San Andreas, CA...Superior Court Judge Thomas Smith found 14 year old Isiah Fowler guilty in the death of his sister Leila Fowler. He will face sentencing for second degree murder on November 2nd for the April 27, 2013 stabbing death. Initially the then 12 year old told law enforcement that a grey haired intruder stabbed his 8 year old sister.



Above is the flier for Leila's Candlelight Vigil and a photo of the crowd. On the coverage side we will always remember hearing scanner traffic of a juvenile being transported with multiple stab wounds and the air ambulance ordered for Mark Twain Medical Center's helipad and hearing the medi-flight canceled as Leila had passed away before she arrived.

Valley Springs, CA...Dale Franklin Robitaille was born on March 5th, 1953 in Phoenix Arizona He was 62 years old. He was a professional painter and passed away at his home in Valley Springs on September 12. He was a member of the Valley Springs Church of Christ.
