The goals for PEG Access Television are to promote free speech, foster diverse points of view, encourage communications, create opportunities, encourage artistic expression, expand educational access, and promote participatory democracy in order to strengthen the spirit of the communities and enrich the lives of our residents and visitors.

Valley Springs, CA...The Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program is honored to announce Valley Springs resident Troy Dobberphul as its April 2016 Mentor of the Month. Troy grew up in Calaveras County. After serving four years active duty in the United States Army, including one tour in Afghanistan, he decided to come back to the community he enjoyed so much as a boy. “I always considered mentoring when I lived in other communities. It wasn’t until I saw a poster for the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program and received an email saying that someone had recommended me to be a mentor, that I knew it was my time,” said Troy.

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Motherlode Interagency Training Officers Association in cooperation with the Mokelumne Hill Fire Protection District will be conducting a structure training burn at 8253 Main St, Mokelumne Hill. The burn is scheduled between 8am to 5pm on April 23rd.
Good Samaritan Relieved Of Her Vehicle At Knifepoint In San Andreas

San Andreas, CA...On 4/11/2016 at approximately 2230 hours, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Chevron Gas Station in San Andreas for a report of a carjacking. At about 2200 hours, An 18 year old female victim had noticed an unknown male subject loitering around the Burger King restaurant in Valley Springs and offered him a ride to his friend’s residence at the San Andreas Apartments. Once they arrived, the suspect brandished a pocket knife, demanded the victim’s vehicle, cell phone, and proceeded to reach for them. While trying to retain her belongings, she sustained a minor cut on her right wrist from the suspect’s knife. The victim did surrender her cell phone and vehicle. The suspect drove off west bound on Saint Charles Street to unknown location. The vehicle has not been located.
County "Abuzz" In Anticipation Of 48th Annual Spelling Bee On April 14th

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County students in sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades will compete to become the top speller in the county at the 48th Annual Calaveras County Spelling Bee, coming up at Calaveras River Academy/Mountain Oaks School in San Andreas on Thursday evening, April 14, 2016 at 6:30 pm. The event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Teichert Foundation and the Calaveras County Office of Education.
