Valley Springs, CA...Ford Construction Company the operators of the New Hogan Rock Quarry for the past 20+ years has requested that the Calaveras Planning Department review the possibility of placing a Hot Asphalt Mixing Plant at their existing quarry location. Peter Maurer, Calaveras County’s Planing Director reviewed the request and determined that the existing M2 zoning at the quarry property allows for the installation of a asphalt plant without the need for a EIR or Conditional use Permit.
San Andreas, CA...Two new 1/2 shows on the Calaveras Taxpayers Cable TV program: "Taxpayer Alert" which is a public service effort by volunteers. The program interviews public officials and experts to discuss current issues. Valley Springs, CA...On 06/14/15 at 0400 hours, Deputies were dispatched to 11700 Wade Lane, at Lake Camanche campgrounds, for a report of a man shooting a gun into the air. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted several campers who described the shooter as a large, bald man, wearing a white t-shirt. Campers advised that the suspect had been talking about gangs, making “pop sounds”, and later followed with a real gunshot. Deputies contacted (S) Angelo Esquer nearby and placed him under arrest. A search of Angelo Esquer’s person was conducted, yielding methamphetamine and a switchblade knife. Deputies also located a small semi-auto handgun located in the nearby area....

Angels Camp, CA...On June 9th, 2015, at approximately 1345 hours, Calaveras County advised they were in pursuit of a the Subject Vehicle (S/V), a white Toyota Sienna, westbound on SR-12 at Central Hill Road. The S/V had been reported as a stolen motor vehicle stolen in Angels Camp out of a car jacking. Due to the Party 1's (P-1) (Taormina) reckless driving behavior, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies were unable to safely keep up with the S/V and lost sight of the vehicle near Burson Road. P-1 continued to drive at a high rate of speed estimated at approximately 90 miles per hour as he entered the town of Wallace. P-1 entered a left hand curve in the roadway and due to his speed he was unable to negotiate the curve. S/V traveled off the north side of the roadway where it struck a two utility poles, four Blue Aptos pine trees, and two oleander trees...

Angels Camp, CA...Under the Supervision of Cpt. B. Miner, Lt. E. Anderson, Sgt. R. Carlascio, Sgt. V. Farina, Sgt. B. Fienberg, and Sgt. A. Weatherby of the Calaveras County Sheriff Volunteer Unit, members of the Unit provided patrol duty during the 2015 Calaveras County Fair in May. The County Fair was well attended. Everyone who attended the County Fair had fun and enjoyed the beautiful weather outdoors.
