TCU 2013 Fire Season Begins With A New CAL-FIRE Unit Chief

San Andreas –With this year’s dry conditions the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (TCU) transitioned into fire season on May 1st, much earlier than normal. CAL FIRE’s Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit incorporates the State Responsibility Areas (SRA) in Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. The 2013 fire season also comes with new leadership. On May 1, 2013, Josh White was appointed to the TCU Unit Chief position. Former TCU Unit Chief, Brian Kirk, retired in March 2013. Chief White began his career in 1988 as a Firefighter I. Since then he has worked a variety of assignments including State and County fire stations, Conservation Camps, Fire Prevention, Civil Cost Recovery, Law Enforcement, Safety, Research and Development as well as served on various working groups and cadres. Chief White has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice...

Daily Update: Leila Fowler Homicide Investigation for May 7th

Valley Springs, CA..There was not a Press Briefing today but the case continues to move forward and the following was provided today as an indication of the progress made today. Calaveras County and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Dive recovery teams resumed the SCUBA dive operation of a small pond today. A third dive operation is planned for tomorrow at the same pond. The FBI dog search team continued searching the scene today. It is unknown how long this will take. The investigation continues to move forward. There is no other substantive information that can be released at this time...

This event will take place on Saturday June 1 from 9am - 1pm in the lower parking lot of Calaveras High school. E-Waste contains a variety of toxins which leech into the environment when thrown into landfills and not properly disposed of. Please bring the items to CHS to be recycled. This event offers you an easy way to recycle any electronic device that is not useful or is no longer working. Leila Fowler Case Update for Monday May 6th

Valley Springs, CA...The update items for today included that the canvassing has been completed and they are starting to results back from the evidence submitted to the crime lab. They could not go into details on what the results were but did confirm a result. There is starting to be a general sense that their investigation is moving along but they are being very careful to make sure all the I's are dotted and the T's crossed so when details of the case can be release it is solid. Today's video was shot tripodless so sorry for a bit of camera motion. Updated with official release...
