San Andreas, CA.....The Calaveras Council of Governments is scheduled to meet on Wednesday July 2nd at 6:30pm at the BOS Chambers in San Andreas. Something very exciting that is happening at this meeting is the adoption of the of Arnold Rural Livable Mobility Plan and Presentation by Stantec Consultants; Possible adoption of the Arnold Rural Lovable Mobility Plan; Review and adoption of the 08/09 Unmet Transit Needs Findings Report; and a Contract Summary approving RBF Consulting contract for the Wagon Trail Realignment Project. Valley Springs, CA...The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association took a tour and met with the Developers of the Trinitas Olive Orchards & Golf Course for several hours on Friday. They reached the conclusion that the Trinitas Project deserves their support. The CCTA is the second community organization to stand behind the project publicly in less than a week. Jenny Lind, CA...Golden State Cellular's Marketing Director Darrell Slocum has let us know that their new cell site in the Jenny Lind area in now up and running. This should be great news for residents and those doing business in the greater Valley Springs area. This will also improve roaming coverage for those visiting our area. A quote from one of their Cellular Technicians Matthew Prier. "We have turned up and tested a new site in Jenny Lind, and it is officially on the air and providing service! The site is located at the Calaveras Telephone central office and provides coverage for the town of Jenny Lind, about 2.5 miles south of Rancho Calaveras and Highway 26, on J14."...

Valley Springs, CA...The New and Rapidly Growing Terrace Shopping Center in Valley Springs played host to another Ribbon Cutting on Friday Afternoon. It wasn't just any old ribbon cutting but The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce Itself officially opened it's new branch office within the Mail Depot. This branch office will allow people and businesses on the western side of the county to easily avail themselves of the Chamber's Information & Services. Health Precautions Advised for Smoke in Air

San Andreas, CA...Smoke from the fires burning in Northern California is affecting parts of Calaveras County. This is resulting in poor air quality that can be harmful to residents, especially persons who are more sensitive to the effects of smoke. The Calaveras County Public Health Department and Air Pollution Control District are advising residents to take precautions to prevent exposure to wildfire smoke. All persons who can see or smell smoke, should avoid outdoor activities...

Our Board of Supervisors Will be Busy Bees on Tuesday Morning

San Andreas, CA.....Our Board of Supervisors have a busy Tuesday planned. They start off the meeting with some agenda items then move on to Budget Hearings. Some of the agenda items being discussed are a Resolution Item approving the first amendment of the Solid Waste Collection and Hauling Permit between Amador/Calaveras Disposal and Calaveras County; A Resolution Item amending the basis of funding and calculation for the Land Use Departments Designated Fund 54300000; A Resolution Item authorizing an extension of a subdivision agreement with CRV Enterprises, Inc for Olive Orchard Estates; A Resolution Item accepting as complete a portion of road improvements authorizing release of a portion of the security and amending subdivision agreement for Copper Hills; A Minute Order approving and authorizing Board Chair to sign the certification statement regarding approval of child care priorties for general child care and development funds and state preschools. Valley Springs, CA....After much consideration the Calaveras County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is pleased to announce the organization is endorsing the Trinitas project. The DSA made the announcement Friday evening during the Valley Springs Area Business Association mixer. DSA President Tracy Busby told those in attendance the DSA understands the lean economic times the County faces and believes the Ridge at Trinitas could help generate a much needed boost to the County coffers as well as other businesses in the County with little impact to County services or infrastructure.....

CHP is reporting a collision at 7632 Hwy 12 in Valley Springs. Traffic has been opened to One-Way Traffic. Updated to Minor Injury. The driver was an 80 year old male from Valley Springs who for some unknown reason ended up colliding with a power pole. He was transported to Mark Twain St.Josephs with minor injuries.
