The Third Annual "Wines On Main" Is October 25th |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce our 3rd Annual “Wines on Main” Event, sponsored by Mark Twain Medical Center. The event will take place Saturday October 25th on Main Street in San Andreas from 3:00pm–6:00pm. We have several food vendors providing a variety of delicious delicacies as well as local wineries providing sample tastings of their amazing wines. We are pleased to have KVGC 1340am “Voice of the Gold Country” radio station at this year’s event playing fantastic music for your listening pleasure. The Calaveras County Museum and Historical Society will be open during the event and offer free admittance to ticket holders. The Calaveras County Arts Council will also have their doors open during the event for viewing their beautiful art gallery....

San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, is reminding all residents the burn suspension is still in effect, until further notice. Fire danger remains above average across the Central Sierras and, even though we have recently experienced some moisture and cooler temperatures, the chance of large and damaging fires still exists....

County Administrative Officer Lori Norton Has Tendered Her Resignation |

San Andreas, CA....Calaveas County CAO Lori Norton, tendered her resignation to the Board of Supervisors last night. They have accepted her resignation and according to Assistant CAO Shirley Ryan, it will be effective December 31st of this year and she will be on leave for a good portion of that time. An interim CAO will probably be named at the next board meeting...

Two Arrested in Valley Springs |

Valley Springs, CA...On 09/30/2014 at 1700 hours, Deputies contacted a female subject on the 7600 block of Baldwin Street, in Valley Springs. The female subject was seen walking in a residential area on private property. The deputies recognized the female subject as Susan Marie Stratton (31 years old), who was placed under arrest for misdemeanor warrants. The deputies conducted a security check of the residence that was located on the property. As deputies were knocking on the door, a white male subject exited out the back and began to run, jumping over fences. Deputies gave chase when they heard a female subject yelling. Deputies contacted the female subject and she stated the white male subject had forced his way into her home and prevented her from leaving. The subject had told her that he was running from the Sheriff's Department and needed a place to hide. As the male subject began to close blinds, the home owner exited the residence and contacted the Sheriff's Department.... |

Murphys, CA...On Saturday night evening October 25th, Hospice of Amador & Calaveras is presenting their 2nd Annual “CALAVERAS LIVE!” fundraiser at the Black Bart Playhouse in Murphys. Tickets are going fast for this year’s show which begins with a wine reception and hors d’oeuvres provided by The Historic Murphys Hotel at 6:30pm. The evening will include lots of fun, music, laughter, and no doubt a few tears. You will also have the opportunity to bid on fine antiques and art, and purchase raffle tickets at the door. Calaveras Chamber Of Commerce Names Staci Johnston As New Executive Director |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced that they have hired Valley Springs resident Staci Johnston as the new Executive Director. As a former business owner, Staci Johnston says she's excited for the Chamber to build a better relationship with our business community no matter how large or small the business. “I have a deep commitment to make a positive impact upon our county as the Executive Director, and on behalf of the Chamber it is our goal to help build our new businesses as well as promote our longtime merchants within the county”, remarked Johnston. “I am looking forward to showcasing our business owners and recognizing their dedication to our communities and ultimately our county. I feel blessed to live in such a wonderful area full of a variety of businesses and I want to see individuals succeed in their endeavors. The Chamber will work closely with our resource agencies and utilize their services to promote a successful business experience in our county.”
