Valley Springs, CA...Peggy Logan November 24, 1956 ~ April 21, 2024 (age 67). Peggy Padilla Logan, 67, passed away on April 21, 2024, in Valley Springs, CA. Peggy was born on November 24, 1956, in TX to parents Antonio and Nena Padilla. Peggy was a retired Human Resource Director. Peggy is survived by her daughter Jamie Logan of Richmond, CA. A funeral service will be held at a later date.

Valley Springs, CA...Jonathan "Wes" Hodgson July 26, 1927 ~ April 21, 2024 (age 96). Jonathan "Wes" Wesley Hodgson, 96, passed away on April 21, 2024, in Valley Springs, CA. Jonathan was born on July 26, 1927, in Tulare, CA to parents Delton and Marion (Palmer) Hodgson. Jonathan was a veteran of the U.S Navy who served in WWII Jonathan was a retired Insurance Agent.

Mountain Ranch, CA…In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we’re still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you’ve got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered. Click on images below for larger versions

San Andreas – On April 10, 2024, the gymnasium at Calaveras River Academy/Mountain Oaks was alive with the spirit of competition as the 53rd Annual Calaveras County Spelling Bee Championship unfolded. This year’s bee featured 25 students from 5 Calaveras County Schools.

Valley Springs, CA...Daniel J. Dillon April 25, 1979 ~ March 28, 2024 (age 44). Dan passed away on March 28, 2024 at age 44 unexpectedly from a blood clot. Dan was born to Jerry and Sue Dillon on April 25, 1979 in San Jose, CA. He was preceded in death by his father Jerry on March 7, 2024. Dan and his older brother Jerret grew up in Morgan Hill, CA. They enjoyed riding dirt bikes, playing with their dogs, boating, and hiking. Dan graduated from Live Oak High School in 1997. Dan and Jerret spent their careers together in underground construction.

Phillip Ray Shelley Sr., 64, passed on into the loving arms of the Lord on April 12, 2024, surrounded by his family. Phillip was a resident of Valley Springs, CA and lived in Calaveras County for 40 years. He was a husband to Cheryl Kaye Shelley 65, the Love of his Life and married for 44 years.
