Letter To The Editor On Valley Springs Public Utilities District ~ By Valentino Passetti

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/09/2015 03:21 PM
Valley Springs, CA...My name is Valentino Passetti and my wife and I live here at 863 Paloma Road, Valley Springs, Ca. My wife and I have been attending the Valley Springs Public Utilities Department meetings lately because the VSPUD wants to relocate the sewage plant to a site two miles away from its current location, all uphill, to the now closed, clay plant off Paloma Road. A business man by the name of Tom Coe who now owns this location along with another 700 connecting acres, offered to the VSPUD a donated 5 acre parcel for the VSPUD 5 acres sewage pond that would be needed, and sell to the VSPUD a 99 years lease on 30 acres of his connecting 700 acres parcel to accommodate the new 30 acre spray fields, and the sewage storage pond. Because of the donated 5 acres and the 99 Lease offer from Tom Coe, the VSPUD wants to tear up 2 miles of Paloma Road to place two pipes side by side, four miles of pipe, repave Paloma Road and build all new facilities for the VSPUD new 50 acre sewage pond, and lease from Tom Coe on a 99 year lease, 30 acres for a newly installed sewage storage pond and what will become a contaminated 30 acre spray field.

Valley Springs Man's Vehicle Strikes CHP Vehicle. Moderate Injuries To CHP Officer

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/06/2015 10:00 AM
San Andreas, CA...On July 5th, at approximately 2:34pm, a red Mazda Miata driven by a Valley Springs man was traveling westbound on SR-12. A San Andreas, CHP officer was traveling eastbound on SR-12, in a fully marked CHP Ford Explorer. This collision occurred when the Miata failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and rove off the payment and onto the dirt/gravel shoulder. The driver over corrected and swerved to the left across the double yellow lines and directly into the path of the CHP Officer's vehicle.

San Andreas, CA...Last night the San Andreas Town Hall was filled with a good sized crowd that weighed in on the now almost decade long General Plan update process. The Draft Plan was released on December 18, 2014. During the following 90 review and comment period there were over 400 comment letters submitted totalling over 1000 pages for review. The planning commission is scheduled to start the detailed review process July 9th. Planning Director, Peter Mauer at the start of last night's meeting gave an update on the process. One of the biggest items items of contention during the Draft Plan comment phase was on the inclusion of the Community Plans in the General Plan. Don't Waste Our Future!

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/26/2015 10:39 AM
Calaveras County, CA...Below is a great PSA on recycling from Cal-Waste. They finished Jan 2015 and have taken the video to EVERY elementary school and had an unveiling assembly. It features 5-6 students from every elementary school in Calaveras County and in Galt. Students were chosen by school staff. Cal-Waste wanted to get the message into the homes about recycling and thought this would be a great way to do that From all of us at Cal-Waste we would like to thank all of the schools, staff, students, and parents who participated and supported us on this endeavor. Let’s help to teach the next generation about the importance of recycling and keeping our environment healthy! Stay tuned for a sequel down the road!

CCWD Withdraws Asphalt Plant Appeal

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/23/2015 08:53 PM
San Andreas, CA...After a series of meetings with Ford Construction, the Calaveras County Water District has withdrawn its appeal of a proposed asphalt batch plant along the Calaveras River at Ford’s gravel quarry in Rancho Calaveras. The withdrawal comes after a written agreement between the construction company and CCWD was signed on Tuesday, June 23, which satisfies the concerns CCWD had over potential impacts the plant would have on water quality.
