Copper Cove Wastewater Treatment Plant is on the agenda; CCWD will be submitting a pre-application for USDA funding for a water Distribution System for XX Subdivision in Copperopolis; They will also have a closed Session to discuss real property at 20 Sandy Gulch Road in Wilseyville. Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Back in Action Tuesday Morning

San Andreas, CA....Our Board of Supervisors will be meeting Tuesday morning for their weekly meeting at 9am. Some of the agenda items being discussed will be a Minute Order accepting bid and authorizing purchase of a 2008 Ford for Public Works; A Minute Order authorizing the CDA to issue a refund in the amount of $10,220 to Randy and Sammye Lacy for outside consulting fees that are no longer needed; Lake Tulloch is back on the agenda for discussion and possible action use of residential dwelling units for transient occupancy (short-term rentals). Sierra Century Rides Again! ~By "ThePineTree Pedaler", Brett Loring

Calaveras County, CA....We would like to welcome one of our newest Columnists, "ThePineTree Pedaler", Brett Loring. Brett road the 100 mile Sierra Century today and here is what he has to say about his Grand Adventure....."The roads of Calaveras County for the second year in a row were home – for at least 10 hours - to the Sacramento Wheelmen's coveted biking event, The Sierra Century. A total of 607 road bikers braved the warm June 7 sun and the bumpy back roads and steep grades like Highway 26 to West Point, Jesus Maria into Mountain Ranch, and Dogtown en route back to the Ironstone Vineyard finish line. Three hundred seventy five of the riders participated in the 100-kilometer route, while the rest rode the nearly 100-mile course. Many riders on the 100-mile course finished in under 8 hours......

Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Meeting Video with Summary for June 3, 2008

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors kicked off their June Meetings with a session that lasted just over 3 hours. Mountain Lions even made the show. In addition to the normal items that attracted attention one seemingly minor item took up a large portion of the discussion time. The county was looking at trying to save about $17,000 in general fund money by eliminating 1/2 of a position. From the discussions it seems that this may be $17,000 that needs to be cut elsewhere. The CCOG Wants You To Share

San Andreas, CA...One of the items on the Calaveras County Council of Governments Meeting agenda was the unveiling and launching of a new promotional tool to help market the new Foothill Ride Share program that helps match people with similar commuting needs. The CCOG's Tyler Summerset handled the unveiling and also said they are already getting calls on the program because of their new Toyota. So don't drive alone...Visit Today. ATCAA Wins Five County Technology Planning Grant...First Meeting on June 12th at Ironstone Vineyards

The Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency (ATCAA) has secured a $250,000 grant from the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) to help five rural Sierra counties improve high speed Internet access for all households and businesses. The one-year project, called ATCAA Central Sierra Connect, will launch with the first meeting of the project Advisory Council in the morning and a community forum at Ironstone Vineyards June 12 from 1-4 pm. The community is invited to come to learn about the project and how they can get involved in the one-year work plan......

Two Small Grass Fires Reported Over the Weekend

Calaveras County, CA........CAL Fire reported a 1/8 grass fire at 576 Main Street in Copperopolis on Friday May 30th. Cause is unknown and there were no injuries. There was a also a small spot fire at 129 Sequia Street in Valley Springs. This was caused from escaped ash from a BBQ. No injuries reported. CAL Fire reports are enclosed.....

Valley Springs, CA....The public is invited to Habitat for Humanity Calaveras’ second groundbreaking of a Habitat home in the Valley Springs area. The groundbreaking ceremony is Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. at 3340 Botfuher Street in Rancho Calaveras. Participating in the ceremony are District 5 Supervisor Russ Thomas, and Lucy Thein, President of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Calaveras. Brother James Marlow of the Burson Full Gospel Church will also participate......
