Calaveras County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 12 from Messing Road to Evans Road, west of Valley Springs, for electrical work. Work will begin Tuesday, May 30, 2017, through Friday, June 2, 2017, from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Motorists should expect 10-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

Striping Operations On Many County Roads This Month |

San Andreas, CA...To ensure the safety of the traveling public in Calaveras County, Public Works will be conducting traffic striping on roads county-wide during the month of June. There will be no road closures or construction zones, as the operation is continuously mobile, but please expect brief delays when encountering the work. The following roads will be receiving traffic striping Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am – 7pm.

Jenny Lind, CA...On 05/24/2017 at approximately 3:00 PM, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant on the 10000 block of Scenic Valley Road in Jenny Lind. The property consisted of a large outdoor and a small indoor marijuana growing operation. The property was an unregistered and illegal marijuana grow site. During the search warrant, no persons were contacted at the property. 7589 marijuana plants and 300 pounds of processed marijuana were seized. The investigation into the identities of the persons involved is ongoing.

Valley Springs, CA...On 05/23/2017 at approximately 1:50 AM, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 2100 block of Evans Road in Valley Springs for a report of an altercation involving gunshots. Deputies contacted several subjects at the residence. A search of the property was conducted and an illegal, unregistered, marijuana grow was discovered.

Robert Gaa, 59 From Valley Springs Lost His Life In Hwy 12 Motorcycle Collision |

San Andreas, CA...59 year old Robert Gaa from Valley Springs was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson westbound on Hwy 12 west of Hwy 49 sometime between the evening of May 20th & Sunday May 21st. He was negotiating a curve to his left at an unknown speed when he allowed his motorcycle to drift right and off the roadway. He traveled down an embankment where he collided with several trees before coming to a stop in a grass pasture below the north roadway edge.

Possible Witness Sought for Information on Fatal Collision |

San Andreas, CA – On May 19, 2017, San Andreas CHP Officers investigated a solo fatal traffic collision on Ospital Road, north of Live Oak Road in the Wallace area. There were no witnesses to the traffic collision, however officers have identified a possible witness vehicle using a security camera located just north of the collision scene. Officers believe that the driver of this vehicle could provide information about the collision and is only being sought as a witness, not a suspect.
