Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Back in Action Tuesday Morning

San Andreas, CA....The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors are back in action Tuesday morning at 9am. Some of the agenda items being discussed will be a Resolution Item proclaiming October 5th`11th as Emergency Nurses Week in Calaveras County; A Resolution accepting bid and authorizing an agreement with Traffic Limited, Inc., in the amount of $67,000, for stenciling various County Roads; Public Comment this week will include a presentation of a 2008 CSAC Challenge Award and Merit Award to the County of Calaveras; A Presentation by the Mental Health Board with their 2007 Annual Report; At 10:30am, there will be A Public Hearing establishing Proposition 4 FY Appropriations Limits for the County of Calaveras; A Study Session at 1:30pm regarding Discussion/Information regarding a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan for for the Sheriff's Office. San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Planning Commision voted to grant up to a ten year extension for Castle & Cooke to build out Saddle Creek. This agenda item faced little opposition in light of economic realities of the current real estate market. Trinitas was also a discussion item. The discussion centered around the board taking a working meeting...

San Andreas, CA...Last weeks Board of Supervisors Meeting was a Busy one. The final budget was approved, Pearl Gates of Heaven Lost their tax appeal, The Valley Springs Signs were partially approved, Calaveras County Behavioral Health Services contract for Inpatient Psychiatric Treatment and much more were discussed. San Andreas, CA...."At a candidates' forum in San Andreas Tuesday night (September 30), District One Supervisorial candidate Gary Tofanelli suggested Zerrall McDaniel may have committed “perjury” in her campaign finance reports and / or her campaign mailers. In fact, there is no basis for making these charges. Mr Tofanelli suggested that because the words “Paid for by” did not precede the words “Zerrall McDaniel for Supervisor and her address, a crime may have been committed. However, the Political Reform Act (08) says this....

Valley Springs, CA....The opening ceremonies honoring wounded warriors with American Legion Post 102 Color Guard and members of the Calaveras High School Band, will start at 9:45 am on Saturday, October 4th. Calaveras County, CA...The kindness and generosity of a Valley Springs resident will make life a little easier for children in stressful situations. Melanie Barnhart, an active grandmother of five, has donated her collection of several dozen new Beanie Babies to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office. The toys will be distributed by the Department's Patrol personnel to children in circumstances where a little comfort makes a big difference, such as accidents, criminal investigations or domestic....

FIRE NEWS.......Vegetation Fire Reported Near 155 Bullion Hill Drive in Valley Springs......CONTAINED

Valley Springs, CA.....A Vegetation Fire is Being Reported Near 155 Bullion Hill Drive in Valley Springs. Many ground units were dispatched and in route to the fire now. UPDATE #1 (7:42pm) With units on scene the fire is reported as a small spot fire with slow rate of spread. No further information at this time. UPDATE #2 (7:45pm) Utility 140 and engine 4451 knocked down the fire quickly and were able to contain the fire. No structures or damage were involved in the fire. FIRE CONTAINED....
