Burn Permits Required May 1, 2014 In TCU |

San Andreas, CA...On Thursday, May 1, 2014, the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection ( CAL FIRE) will require burn permits for any outdoor burning within State Responsibility Areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. Due to the exceptionally dry conditions, burning will be limited to the hours between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 A.M.

The Calaveras Unified School District (CUSD) in partnership with The Resource Connection Food Bank will conduct a food drive beginning Monday, May 5, through Wednesday May 14, 2014. CUSD will conduct automated phone calls to parents and staff in an effort to facilitate a high participation rate and to maximize the collective power of the 3,500+ students and staff to make a significant donation to our community....

George E. Segale 1925 - 2014 |

Valley Springs, CA...George Elmer Segale born and raised in Angels Camp, California, on January 15, 1925, died on April 13, 2014, peacefully in his Christian faith at his home in Valley Springs, California after battling asbestos-related mesothelioma lung cancer. George was an active member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Lockeford, California. He was 89 years old. Growing up, George attended Angels Camp Grammar School (Class of 1938) and graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1942. During WWII, George was a chipper and welder building steel boats in Stockton. He then attended and graduated from UOP in Stockton, CA, in 1948, on a baseball scholarship he received. He spent 34 years at Galt Elementary School beginning in 1949, both as a teacher and principal until he retired in 1983. During those same years George worked summers and some evenings at Delta Rubber Company in Stockton. In the early 60's George and his long time friend, the late John Giannoni, owned and operated George's Fluffy Donut Shop on Lodi Avenue in Lodi....

| San Andreas, CA...Sixteen superior court judges from throughout California have endorsed Judge Hugh K. Swift in his June 3 election campaign to retain his position in the Calaveras County Superior Court. Following an extensive evaluation by the State Bar Association’s Judicial Nominees Evaluation Commission, Swift was appointed last December to succeed the Hon. Douglas V. Mewhinney who was retiring. He now faces two challengers in the primary election.... |

Some highlights: Copperopolis, Male came to knock at his door was talking weird things came into his house and got chips spread them all over his kitchen table then went to a neighbors house and got into his house was wondering around in his house. San Andreas, Occurred at Turner Park on Treat Ave. , San Andreas. There are approximately 12 people in a tent in the back of Turner park. San Andreas, Hunters parked on side of road BBQing drinking.

Wallace, CA ...The Valley Springs Area Business Association will be sponsoring a Supervisor, Judge and Sheriff Candidates Forum. On Monday, May 12 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm the Sheriff and Judge candidates will be presented at Better Floor Systems 5476 Hwy 12, Wallace CA. The District 5 Supervisors Forum will be the following evening, Tuesday, May 13 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the same location.
