Gerald Leroy Giuffra II has Passed Away at 58

San Andreas, CA...Gerald Leroy Giuffra II (Jerry) unexpectedly passed away on June 23 at 58. He was a life long resident of Calaveras. He is survived by his adoring sister Debbie Sellick, the love of his life Kathy, that he cherished for 30 years. His sons Jerry III, James and Jake and his grandchildren Junior, Angelina, Jonathan, Christopher and Paityn, that brought so much joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Carmen and his son Jonathan.

Drowning Victim Recovered in Lake Camanche

Burson, CA...On June 28th, 2020, at about 12:25 PM, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a drowning victim at Lake Camanche, Burson Ca. Witnesses reported a 12-year-old male entered the water near the Eucalyptus Day use area. A few minutes later, the 12-year-old began having trouble due to the uneven lake bottom and not knowing how to swim. A 17-year-old friend entered the water to assist the struggling person. The 17-year-old was able to grab the person and hand them to another nearby swimmer; however, he was unable to get himself to safety.

Young Antioch Man Lost His Life in Rainbow Pools Yesterday

Groveland, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office..."We have some tragic news to share. Last night, our deputies, Search and Rescue, and Dive Team were called to Rainbow Pools in Groveland. We responded to a call someone fell into the water and had not surfaced. The body of 19-year-old Alvin Reyes Jr. of Antioch was later recovered by Dive Team and Search and Rescue members.

Sonora Pass High Country Collision Takes Lives of Two San Jose Men

Kennedy Meadows, CA...Between the dates of June 15, 2020 and June 16, 2020, at an unknown time, a 47-year-old male from San Jose was driving a 2006 box truck along with his passenger, a 29-year-old male from San Jose, on westbound State Route 108, west of the Mono County line at an unknown speed. While traveling down the grade, the driver failed to negotiate a sharp right hand turn in the roadway. The vehicle traveled across the opposing lane and off the roadway where it collided into a tree and a large granite rock.

West Point Man Lost His Life Last Night in Vehicle vs Tree Collision

West Point, CA...On June 10, 2020 at approximately 2316 hours, Alexander Beard, 27 from West Point was driving his Dodge pickup on eastbound SR-26, east of Stanley Road. As Mr. Beard was negotiating a curve in the roadway for eastbound traffic, he allowed his vehicle to travel into the westbound lane, where he lost control of the truck. The Dodge continued off of the roadway, onto the north shoulder of SR-26, where it collided with a tree.

Annabelle Jordan: December 25, 1929 - May 20, 2020

Arnold, CA...Annabelle Carmen Jordan, 90, of White Pines California passed away at home surrounded by her family on May 20, 2020. She was born December 25, 1929, to parents Noel and Ruth James in Gridley, California. Annabelle moved to White Pines as a young girl where her father was employed by Blagen Lumber Company. During her time attending Bret Harte High School and while she was in college, Annabelle also worked for the company, where she met the love of her life, Glen Jordan. They were married in 1949 and built their own house in White Pines in the following years. They lived there together happily for 66 years, where they raised their four children and always made it an open, warm and loving place for family and friends to stop by. Annabelle was the postmaster in Avery until she retired in the early 90’s to travel with her husband, Glen.

Santa Cruz Sergeant Damon Gutzwiller's Life Was Taken in Ambush Saturday Afternoon

Santa Cruz, CA...From the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office..."On Saturday June 6th at around 1:30 p.m., we received a call about a suspicious van parked off the road near Jamison Creek, Boulder Creek. The caller saw guns and bomb making materials inside the van. When deputies arrived, the van was seen leaving the area and tried to follow it, finally finding it at a home on Waldeberg, Ben Lomond. As deputies began investigating, they were ambushed with gunfire and multiple improvised explosive devices. Sergeant Damon Gutzwiller was shot and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Another deputy was either shot or struck by shrapnel and struck by a car as the suspect fled the property. We are hopeful the deputy will recover.

He departed this life Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Bryan West in Lincoln, NE at the age of 42 years. Nathan grew up many different places because his dad was in the military. He graduated from high school in California.

Charles Brechtel, 62 Passed Away in Motorcycle Collision on O'Byrnes Ferry Road

Copperopolis, CA...On April 25, 2020, at approximately 1752 hours, Brechtel was riding his Harley Davidson northbound on O'Byrnes Ferry Road south of Duchess Drive. Mason was driving her Chevrolet southbound on O'Byrnes Ferry Road south of Duchess Drive. Brechtel allowed his motorcycle to cross the double yellow lines into the southbound lane, and he collided into the left front corner of the Chevrolet. He was ejected from his motorcycle, and was pronounced deceased on scene.
