Angels Camp, CA...Edna “Lorie” Broglio, Died Monday August 12, 2013 at her home in Angels Camp surround by family and friends. Born August 21, 1955 in Japan she was a 45 year resident of Angels Camp. She worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for Dr’s Thompson, Johnson, and Orman in Murphys for 6 years in the 1980’s when their practices were combined, after which she went to work as an LVN for the California Youth Authority for 20 years until she retired...

Bear Valley, CA...Dear family and friends, It is with deep sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of Denali and Marty on K2. Though considered by the climbing community to be some of the world's most respected mountaineers, the mountain's powerful conditions do not discriminate. As Marty would say, “The mountain chooses your path.” Though Marty described K2 as magical and majestic, the mountain decided to make it their final resting place as they were taken by an avalanche while sleeping together in their tent at camp 3 during the night of July 26. Marty could not help but express his pride in his son as Denali led the way on their climb with skill beyond his age. Denali was so happy to be by his side, sharing their passion for climbing together as a father-son team. Every time Denali called he was overflowing with the beauty he had experienced there....

Angels Camp, CA...R. Dennis Snow, Age 68. R. Dennis Snow Died on August 2, 2013 at his residence in Angels Camp Born February 2, 1945 in Blair Nebraska. He was a resident of Angels Camp for the past 28 years. He was a prior resident of the Bay Area. He was Union Millwright for 25 years in the Bay Area. He was member of VFW Post 2600 in San Andreas and was a Honor Guard Member. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in Viet Nam.

Mountain Ranch, CA...Theordore Davis-Marsh, 6/1/1944 - 7/12/2013. Age 68. Died of a Stroke. Born in Charles City IA, he spent much of his childhood in Guatemala and El Salvador, where is parents were missionaries. He spoke fluent Spanish. He graduated with a BA in History from Northwester University. A loving father of 5 children and grandfather of 2, Ted spend his life taking care of others. He was a pioneer as one of the first stay at home dads. He fought for freedom in the Vietnam War. He was a seeker of knowledge, always on the cutting edge of new techniques for health, wellness and spiritual enlightenment. A man who made friends everywhere, he will be missed by the community and his family.

Mark Walter Popp, a resident of Angels Camp for 18 years, died July 24, 2013 in Palo Alto while receiving medical care at VA Palo Alto. He was born January 6, 1950 in Hayward, Cailf., and raised in Castro Valley. He enlisted in the Army immediately after high school during the Vietnam War. He was in the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He was involved in covert operations in Cambodia & Laos where he was a sharp shooter. He reported to a CIA operative. It broke his heart that he returned to an unappreciative nation that called returning soldiers names & spit on them...

Frogtown, CA....Frogtown continues its resurgence as not only a premier county fair but also as a great venue for events. Frogtown is now being maintained year round in a park like setting and is even home to a full time business Barrels of Monkeez. On July 27th The Blues N Bones Blues and BBQ festival returned for a second year and built on last year's success with an even larger attendance base this year....

San Andreas, CA...Wesley Brandt Andahl was born on June 9, 1924 in Bismark, North Dakota to Julius Mathias Andahl and Esther Myrtle Coddington. He died at age eighty-nine of cancer on July 28th 2013 in San Andreas, CA. Wes grew up on a ranch with thirteen siblings. He joined the Navy in early 1942. Wes served on the destroyer “The Healy” during World War II in the Pacific Theatre till 1945. Upon returning from the war Wes earned his high school degree and finished his education at Cal Poly. Wes was a Federal Plant Quarantine Officer in the Bay Area until 1954. In 1955 Wes and Frances moved to Calaveras County where Wes became the youngest agricultural commissioner in the state. Wes served as the County Agriculture Commissioner and Director of Weights and Measures for twenty-six years. In 1954 Wes was healed from a deadly fever and devoted his life to Christ. He served in Calaveras County as a minister and leader in multiple churches. He built and started the Mountain Ranch Community church where he taught Sunday school and pastored for seventeen years. Upon retirement he committed himself to full-time ministry with the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International and later the Businessmen’s Fellowship. Wes served as a missionary in over fifteen different countries. Also, for the past twenty-eight years Wes held a bible study every Wednesday at Vallecito Prison Camp. Outside of living his life for Christ Wes enjoyed hunting, gardening and reading Louis L’Amour novels...

Barbara Ann Martin, age 66, of Arnold, California, passed away on, July 28, 2013 after a 2 year struggle with Glioblastoma Multiform.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, August 5th at Chapel of the Pines with a meal provided following the service. Pastor Chris Kalton of the Chapel will be officiating. Barbara was born in Oakland, California on December 10, 1946. She graduated from San Lorenzo High School and continued on to receive a baccalaureate Degree from California State University, Hayward in Music and Voice followed by a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. She did further graduate studies in educational administration and received her teaching credentials...
