CAL FIRE Plans Memorial Service for Airtanker Pilot |

San Jose, CA...Firefighters will gather together to pay their respects to Airtanker Pilot Geoffrey “Craig” Hunt as well as to his family, who paid the ultimate sacrifice with his life while fighting the Dog Rock Fire near El Portal, California. A celebration of Craig’s life, with full Line of Duty Death fire service honors, will take place Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. On October 7, 2014, Dyncorp Pilot Geoffrey “Craig” Hunt was involved in a fatal crash while flying a CAL FIRE S-2T Airtanker over the Dog Rock fire burning near Yosemite’s Arch Rock. “We continue to mourn the tragic loss of Craig.” said Chief Ken Pimlott, CAL FIRE Director. “We know wildland firefighting is an inherently dangerous job, but Craig made the ultimate sacrifice.”

Rocklin Man Loses Life In Early Afternoon Motorcycle Accident |

Jamestown, CA...This afternoon at 12:38pm a 52 year old Rocklin man was riing his 2004 BMW motorcycle with a side car eastbound on Hwy 120 east of Tulloch Dam Road in the number one lane. As he approached a right hanc curve in the roadway, he allowed his motorcycle to travel off the north side of the roadway. The BMW traveled down a small descending dirt embankment and collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger was mediflighted to a local hospital with major injuries...

Angels Camp, CA...Grace Muirhead died unexpectedly on Sept. 2, 2014. Born in Madison, WI, on Nov. 24, 1938—which happened to be both her mother’s birthday and Thanksgiving—she attended Madison public schools and entered the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a freshman with sophomore standing, graduating with honors in 1960. Her college years found her busy indeed. She was active in student affairs, including the student senate, student-faculty committees and several social and honorary ....

Angels Camp, CA...Ruby Ramey Minard Hibbert was born to parents James and Mamie Ramey in Copperopolis on August 17, 1926. She passed away on October 5, 2014 in Angels Camp. She attended Copperopolis Grammar School and Bret Harte High School where she met her future husband Bert Minard. They shared 50 years of marriage before his passing in 1996. Ruby owned A. F. Wilson Insurance and was an outstanding asset to the community with her dedicated service to all. She was active in the Angels Merchants Association and BPW. She enjoyed many years in the Angels Camp Bowling League with her long-time friends. Ruby was known for her outstanding cooking and it was always a treat to be at her dinner table. Ruby was lucky to find another wonderful man and married Ron Hibbert of Arizona. They enjoyed many years of travel and fun adventures....

Murphys, CA...Born Oct. 12, 1925 in Greenbay Wis. passed away peacefully on Sept. 8, 2014. Jean passed of natural causes in Sonora, CA. She was proceeded in death by husband Eric Rudolph Theis. Later by longtime companion, Richard (Dick) Lynn. Jean is survived by siblings Joan Kelso and Rich Halpine. Her children Ethel Luiz, Pam Mello, and son Richard (Sandy) Theis. Also, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and fifteen great great grandchildren. Jean leaves with us a legacy of love, kindness, joy and faith. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.....

Pilot Killed in Fatal Airtanker Crashed Identified |

Sacramento, CA...CAL FIRE officials today released the identity of the pilot killed in yesterday’s airtanker crash in Yosemite National Park. Geoffrey “Craig” Hunt, age 62, of San Jose was a 13 year veteran pilot of Dyncorp International under contract with CAL FIRE. “We continue to mourn the tragic loss of Craig,” said Chief Ken Pimlott, CAL FIRE director. “We know wildland firefighting is an inherently dangerous job, but Craig made the ultimate sacrifice.”

He worked at Williams auto parts in Angels Camp until his retirement 1998 after which he spent time working on people’s cars as an auto mechanic, a skill which he practiced for over 60 years....

Angels Camp, Ca... Vera Louise Swanson of Angels Camp passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 3, 2014. Vera was born in San Andreas Sept. 2, 1930. She moved with her family during the war to Berkeley, CA where she attended Berkeley High, met and married the love of her life Art Swanson in 1947. She raised her family in the Bay Area. Upon retirement they moved to Arnold and later Angels Camp....
