Los Angeles, CA...Donald Jay "Don" Rickles, May 8, 1926 - April 4, 2017 was an American stand-up comedian and actor. Best known as an insult comic, he is also an actor, playing both comedic and dramatic roles on film. He received widespread exposure as a frequent guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and Late Show with David Letterman. He also entertained new generations of audiences as the voice of Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story films..

Angels Camp, CA...Sammy R. Marshall passed away on March 21, 2017 at the age of 78, @ Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was a life long resident of Angels Camp and was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Fay Marshall on January 11, 2017.

Longtime Calaveras Resident Rex Alton Berry Died Thursday, March 23, 2017. He was 61.

San Andreas, CA...Rex Alton Berry was born in Palo Alto, California, on 1 November 1955, Mr. Berry lived with his family in Fremont. As a young teenager, he suffered a serious life threatening illness and miraculously recovered. Thereafter, he spent a summer in Anchorage, Alaska with his Uncle, Allen Berry, where had the adventure of a lifetime. His Boy Scout skills were put to good use. He and his family moved to Valley Springs (Paloma) in 1969. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he spent his time with his Uncles Frank and Jim Fitzgerald. He married and his only child, Rex Jr. was born. Mr. Berry had several jobs including delivery driver for a major distributor of soft drinks, collector of bee pollen for health products, metal refinisher, metal plater, and was a truck driver for a short time.

Dolores Tretheway Walk 1931-2017

Valley Springs,CA...Dolores went to her heavenly home on March 18th at the age of 86. She was born March 15, 1931 to Godfrey and Lula Nemec. She married John “Cap” Tretheway on July 2, 1950 and had two daughters, Dolly Tretheway Thornburg and Jeannie Tretheway Simpson. She is survived by 4 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great, great grandson and another due in July. Dolores had 5 sisters: Mary, Norma, Margaret, Beverly and Lenora as well as a large extended family. She will be greatly missed! A memorial service will be held on March 28th at 11am at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel. Graveside burial will follow at Jenny Lind Memorial Cemetery.

San Andreas, CA...Ida Frances Davis-Vietor passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the age of 80. To her family and friends she was best known as Mom, Grandma Vietor, GG, Auntie Fran, Fran. She is survived by her children: Alvin Knackstedt and wife Vickie, Kevin Vietor and fiancé Kelly, Rich Vietor and wife Tracy, and Traci Cottle and husband Dave. Her grandchildren, Liz and husband Mike, Alvin Jr and wife Christina, Bryce and wife Rebecca, Heather and husband Steve, Kylie and fiancé Alan, Austin, Wyatt, Jessica and husband Jomoore, Dave Jr. and wife Catrina, Christopher and wife Holly, and William. Her great grand-children: Michael, Alexander, Brianna, Makayla, Rylee, Jordan, Kobe, Erin, Alexis, Maxwell, and April. She is preceded in death by Husband Edward Vietor.

Stockton Woman Loses Life In Hwy 49 Collision Just North Of Mokelumne River

Jackson, CA....On March 19th at approximately 11:45 p.m. a 52 year old Stockton man was driving his 2006 Chevrolet Southbound on State Route 49 just north of Electra Road. For an unknown reason he allowed his 2006 Chevrolet to leave the road, strike a rock and embankment and overturn. His 52 year old female passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries.

Yosemite, CA...A woman was struck and killed by a falling tree in Yosemite National Park on Sunday morning March 5, 2017, The tragic accident occurred in Half Dome Village, in Yosemite Valley, at around 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning, amid heavy snow and high winds. Destiny Rose Texeira Borges, 20, from Ceres, California was in the park working for a company contracted by the park concessioner.

Angels Camp, CA...Alberta Mae Castle, 84, passed away on March 1, 2017. She was born to James and Mae Chappell of Angels Camp and lived her entire life in Calaveras County. Married 67 years to Howard A.Castle she was preceded in death by a brother Clayton Chappell and son Guy David Castle. Alberta has a sister Betty Thomas of Jackson, and brother Leroy Chappell of Texas, two sons Jimmy (Jill) of Angels Camp, Dan ( Georgeanne) of Nine Mile Falls, Washington and Daughter in Law Jeanie Castle of Douglas Flat. Blessed with 9 grandchildren, Lucas Castle, Guy Castle, Lindsay Stump, Rachel Adams, John Castle, Naomi White, Heather Castle, Christopher Castle and Ashley Ladegard as well 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
