Vietnam Veteran Richard Ray Robinson Passes Away at 62

West Point, CA...Richard Ray Robinson age 68, Passed away July 12th 2017 of Mesothelioma at his home in West Point Ca. He was born October 16th 1948 in French Camp Ca to Leonidas & Belva Robinson, who are both deceased. Graduated linden high school, took Agriculture for 4 years. He was also class president for awhile. Rick was an E4, Corporal, a scout sniper / specialty Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps from 09/21/1967 till 11/14/69. Medals & decorations Rick received, National Defense service, Vietnam Campaign, Rifle expert badge, Vietnam service Medal, Combat action ribbon, National defense service medal, Vietnam campaign medal w/device. Rick was a member of the VFW Post 3322 in West Point CA and post 8311 in Elk city Idaho. Also the American Legion post 376 in Glencoe CA. He worked in Logging, at Valley truss & had various other jobs. Rick’s passion in life was the great outdoors, hunting and also a bit of fishing.

Sacramento Man Lost His Life in Hwy 49 Big Rig Collision

Mokelumne Hill, CA...At about 8:30pm a 42 year old Sacramento man was operating a combination commercial vehicle consisting of a truck tractor and it's two trailers, hauling asphalt from Carson Hill Rock Products in Angels Camp to a highway paving project on Hwy 88 in Amador County. He was traveling northbound on Hwy 49, north of Mokelumne Hill descending a grade towards the North Fork Mokelumne River Bridge. He reached a speed of over 40 mph, which was too fast for the truck he was driving on the steep curved roadway.

Michael D. Clark Lost His Life Last Night in Hwy 49 Big Rig Collision

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The sad notifications have been made and CHP has released that it was Michael D. Clark, 42 from Sacramento who last his life last night in a tragic big rig collision in the corners north of Mokelumne Hill approaching the river. At about 8:30pm Mr. Clark was operating a combination commercial vehicle consisting of a truck tractor and it's two trailers, hauling asphalt from Carson Hill Rock Products in Angels Camp to a highway paving project on Hwy 88 in Amador County. Celebration of Life for Mokelumne Hill's Laura Jane Canty (1946-2017) on July 15th

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Laura Jane Canty was born December 18, 1946, and passed away July 2, 2017. She was raised in Charleston, South Carolina, and traveled out to San Francisco in 1970. Jane first lived in Capitola and in 1977 moved to Mokelumne Hill where she worked for many years at the Hotel Leger. In 1989, Jane and her husband Ron Pitner started The Greenery Landscaping Company which is still in operation. Jane, Ron, and daughter Ashely were also owners of the Hotel Leger in Mokelumne Hill from 2002-2013.

Arnold CA - Paula was a lifelong resident of Calaveras County. She was born in San Andreas and raised in Angels Camp. She attended Mark Twain Elementary and Bret Harte High. After graduating high school she worked at Hydrox Inc., Big Tree’s Market, Tim Magnusun DDS, and Mark Twain Hospital. Paula enjoyed cooking, painting, being a Nonna to granddaughter Ada, being around family and friends most of all.

Kathryn Ruth Drake Runkle, October 30, 1916-June 4, 2017

Angels Camp, CA...Kathryn (Kay) Runkle went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Sunday afternoon, June 4, 2017. Born on October 30, 1916, she lived 100 and a half incredible years. It was as if she were waiting until her chicks gathered around her: her daughter Kathi (Doug) Grover of Murphys, grandson Derik (Angela) and great-grandson Dakota Grover of Watsonville, grandson Dustin (Lauren) Grover of Cameron Park, and granddaughter Kendra Grover Schultz of Sterling, VA. Her son Clifford Runkle of Carson City, NV, was unable to come, as was her grandson-in-law, Jeff Schultz with great grandsons Lukas and Mikah of Sterling, VA. They shared memories, sang hymns, and prayed at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Runkle.

Motorcycle Collision Takes Life of Allen Oxender, 65 of Sonora

Mokelumne Hill, CA...(Location Updated) Allen Oxender, 65 of Sonora was riding his 2012 Harley Davidson northbound on Hwy 49 south of the county line. He was riding at an unknown speed, approaching a right curve in the roadway. He failed to safely negotiate the curve in the roadway and collided with the guardrail ejecting both he and his passenger.

Aerospace Industry Veteran, Harry F. Spencer, Jr., 82 Passed Away on May 10th

Arnold, CA...Harry F. Spencer, Jr., aged 82 passed away quietly at home in Roseville, CA on May 10, 2017. Harry was a 28 year resident of Calaveras County, spending the majority of his time living in Arnold and Angels Camp. Before moving up to Calaveras County Harry spent 35 years working at the NASA Ames Research Center in Sunnyvale, CA in the Mechanical Operations Branch. He worked on teams whose contributions culminated in the Apollo 11 Mission and Mans first landing on the moon. His career in the wind tunnels brought him into contact with many well-known projects such as the SR-71 Blackbird. He was happy to state that he “ran the board” for the 1/3rd Space Shuttle Model in the 80x120 wind tunnel at Moffett Field.

Logan Robert Bannwarth, 30 from Sonora Lost His Life in Motorcycle Collision

La Grange, CA...On June 26, 2017 at approximately 8:17 pm, 30 year old Sonora resident, Logan Robert Bannwarth, was riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on State Route 132 west of Bonds Flat Road at an unknown speed. Bannwarth failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway and ran off of the right edge of the road. Bannwarth struck two reflective road edge markers and was subsequently ejected from the motorcycle. Bannwarth sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Barbara Rose Russell 1924 - 2017

Arnold, CA...Barbara Rose Russell (Burns) passed away June 16th at the age of 93. Born May 17, 1924 in Stockton, to Edward and Irene Burns. Affectionately known as Sis or Bobbie to friends and family, she is survived by son James F Russell Jr, of Arnold and granddaughters Bonnie Esperanca and Annie Russell Zinzuvadia, four great grandsons and one great granddaughter and brother Thomas Burns.
